Shall I get a fake tan for my hols???

Off to the Canaries on a couple of weeks, first holiday since DS came along, yay!

It's going to be warm, and there's a pool. I'm white verging on the blue and feel very uncomfortable in any kind of summer wear (I'm not large but a bit squidgy!).

So, do I go for a fake or not? I haven't had one for years, and the last time I did one for a holiday I spent ages every day trying to top the bloody thing up, which is not going to be practical with DS.

We're away for 7 days, and I'm hoping to swim, is it just going to disappear after a couple of days?

And if I should go for it, which should I do (I want to go to a salon), and how much is it likely to cost?

TIA!

No, dont bother they are a bit chavvy.

But surely they are only "chavvy" if you go orange? I'd just like a light covering of beige, nothing more than that. Still not good?

I think they are naff nowadays. You dont see as many tanned folks in Feb as you used to and that makes me think they are a bit passe.

But if you are dead set, my salon does £8 for half a body :) and £15 for full body spray tan. Not sure of make though. But have a fab hol whatever x

Well they do fade really quick something to do with chemicals in the water that strips it so might not b worth it in that respect but if it makes u feel better then go for it Smile I pay about £18 for a full body not sure the make not st tropez or anything like that
Could u not take some garnier summer sun gradual tan moisturiser with u and put that on to keep the colour up?

We're off to the Canaries too in a couple of weeks and I'm planning on a bit of holiday skin preparation myself. Nothing fancy, just using a body scrub in the shower, pumice on the feet and using a moisturiser with a bit of fake tan in it. I've used a lot of these over the years, usually either before a big night out or a holiday, to build up some colour over a few days.

The one I really like is L'Oreal Nutri Summer, as it seems to give good coverage without being patchy, smells OK and is a pretty good moisturiser too, but there are loads available so it depends on what you're looking for, colour-wise, smell etc.

I'd avoid a salon spray tan. I went down this route before my honeymoon and after day 1 in the pool it had all but disappeared - money well spent (not!).

Enjoy your holiday!

If you have a good scrub before you go and moisturise then your skin will look better.

As soon as you take a dip in the pool your self tan will start to strip which is worse than looking white!

As a fellow bluey-whitey I can sympathise but TBH I wouldn't bother. I have fake-tanned twice pre-holiday. Even with the very palest shade of fake tan, it began to shed after a few days and it looked even worse than my normal bluey-whitey skin!

Pamper yor skin a few days before, a scrub , moisturiser, that stuff with a hint of fake tan in (I found the lightest Johnson's Holiday was great on my oh-so-pale skin) and enjoy!
