Why is my face always so shiny in photos?

It doesn't look shiny when I look in the mirror but in any photo when the flash has been used I am always the shiniest person. I hate it!

I use a Lancome mattifying moisturiser but over a little Estee Lauder Daywear as otherwise my skin is too dry to apply foundation. I always wear powder but have the shiny face problem even after I have just applied it.

I look at other people with completely matt faces and I don't know how they do it. Any tips?

It's the mattifying stuff. I know, i have oliy skin and have tried tons of them. They don't work, just dry out your skin and make it produce more oil and make you even shinier.
What you want to use, even if it sounds Hmm at first, is oils. Dr. Hauschka does a good normalizing oil that keeps yor face soft and moisturized, but also totally shine-free. Now that I'm a bit older, all other oils like Decleor work very nicely as well.

Oh, hadn't thought of that. Do you use the oil instead of moisturiser or as well as?

instead of. I was really sceptical at first - oil on oily face, when we've always been told to go for oil-free? But it really works.
Hauschka has travel sizes as well, can check if it suits your skin

yes oil is the answer, stops you face producing so much of your own stuff, so you can regulate it your self.

If it's just shiny in photos and not in real life it might be your foundation. Are you wearing a light reflective one? If so, that'll be why.

I used a light-reflective powder once (a lovely Dior one I was given as a present); afterwards I saw a photo of my face and it was lit up like a Christmas Tree. It looked as if it had been polished.

There is a Bobby Brown tint that I wear and I love it UNTIL I saw myself on a photo and I was nice and shiney!

I still use the tint but put some powder very lightly on the T zone. This has helped me.

Thanks for the link ullainga - will check that out.

I use the Clinique anti-blemish foundation. I don't know whether it is light reflecting or not. Can anyone recommend a foundation which is definitely not light-refelcting please?
