I find outsourcing rock breaking and hoovering helps enormously.

FluffyMummy123 · 27/01/2011 13:22

lol
i DO that
any slight exertion from my lilac chaise longue has it chipping

I have been told Sally Hansen diamond stuff works.

Am testing it at the moment - seems to last longer than no top coat at all.

Base coat is omstly so that when you take it off your nails aren't stained.

FluffyMummy123 · 27/01/2011 13:25

ah now i bought that
is SO thick its ugly

Rannaldini · 27/01/2011 13:26

i've started having a file in polish a la your recommendation and i find that it stays on that way (only £2.50 here)
i've had the revlon fast dry stuff and the sally hansen but in truth somehow someone else doing it seems to work the best

voiceofnoreason · 27/01/2011 13:29

Try a 3 week manicure? Gel varnish - set under UV. Rock hard! No chips- awesome.

TrillianAstra · 27/01/2011 13:30

I want to change colours more often than that though.

FluffyMummy123 · 27/01/2011 13:30

yes our price fo file nad polish has rocketed
hence diy

badly

OP posts:
berri · 27/01/2011 13:34

Seche Vite is the best top coat.

voiceofnoreason · 27/01/2011 13:49

Ah well TA - that is the price of flibbertygibbetness when it comes to colour Grin

ShirleyKnot · 27/01/2011 13:52

The best top coat I have used is Nails Inc here

I don't know why it's called Albert Bridge.

voice - I have had that gel nail thingy done for the first time. I really like it and roffled at the pamphlet I was given saying "nails are not TOOLS, treat them as JEWELS"

Cyb · 27/01/2011 13:53

What brand are you using]coddy

I like OPI

And even the cack handed amongst us can do a good paint job with their brilliant brushes

I think you need to top coat each night to refresh, persoanlly

MadreInglese · 27/01/2011 13:54

I use any old stuff for bottom and top coat but what's important IMO is for each coat to be bone dry before you put the next one on

Means it takes much longer to do but it does make them last longer

voiceofnoreason · 27/01/2011 13:55

Oooh shirley - a pamphlet. I got a cup of tea and a gossip. Pamphlets is posh

FluffyMummy123 · 27/01/2011 13:55

essie

Opi

or revlon

OP posts:
Rannaldini · 27/01/2011 13:56

when you get the gel thing done do your nails end up looking thick
as though they all have fungal infections

FluffyMummy123 · 27/01/2011 13:56

good tips all ta

will look at albert Wink

OP posts:
alarkaspree · 27/01/2011 13:57

I find if I go and get it done by someone else, they slap the varnish on really thickly. They don't wait for it to dry in between coats. It lasts longer.

I still can't stop it chipping though. Lego is a killer.

ShirleyKnot · 27/01/2011 13:58

Not really voice. The girl who did it was a horror. She just wouldn't shut up and said things like "Yeah, well the thing is, it's really hard being a working mother what with having to do all the cooking and cleaning and looking after the baby and giving Brian blow jobs! hahaha!"

Marvellous.

voiceofnoreason · 27/01/2011 14:08

I got a full rundown of her tortuous lovelife - i had to smile and sympathise - she was spooning boiling wax over my nether regions! We had moved to thankfully more mundane things by the time the nails were being done! Well ok, it wasn't boiling - but it was warm enough.

oliviafrombolivia · 27/01/2011 20:17

seche vite is brilliant..

brimfull · 27/01/2011 20:20

apparently chipped nail polish is trendy

felicity10 · 27/01/2011 20:26

Stick the sally hansen in the freezer for 10 mins before using and when you brush it down keep the brush really flat - works for me....hmmm although standards have slipped somewhat in recent months, you've inspired me to sort my own nails out!

lololizzy · 28/01/2011 01:34

gel overlays. Then you can put on any colour you want (and can remove the colour and the gel still remains..until it grows out)
