Rescue mission please - dull, muddy wardrobe...

Looking into my wardrobe is a bit like looking into a muddy pond. Brown, beige, maroon, rust, grey, khaki, navy, burgundy. And all of it plain - no patterns, frills or embellishments. This was not my intention - I think I'm just a bit scared of standing out, which I'd like to change a little.

Can anyone clever point me at a few things that will spice it up a bit, but tone with it so I don't have to start again? I think my current strategy of "bright neck scarf" is a bit lame. I do suit autumnal colours, but a few patterns and design features would be nice please.

Thank you, love you, byeee

A bright orange cardi/jacket suits us Autumns. Get one which will work with jeans or smarter.

Thanks sassy, will look out for one of those...

are you sure...

that you really are an autumn?

that you suit muddy rather than clear colours?

that you suit pattern?

and if so, what scale, kind etc?

are you better with toning or contrasting colour?

Id go for some stripey or floral tops in the same colours so at least they would break up all that solid colour and go with lots of things you already have

I have the same problem. I rarely see a pattern I like and if I do when I try the garment on it swamps me.

Also prefer autumn colors and black.

I'm a camel/beige/taupe/chocolate kinda girl. I try other things, though haven't bought anything striped or patterned in quite some time.

I like these colours. They're flattering on a wintery skin too.

I like the sound of your "muddy" wardrobe so, no advice I'm afraid!

Thanks for the tips (and empathy!) I'm not sure that I'm an autumn, have looked at one of those colour thingummy books and that's what it said...

I am now on a quest for a patterned cool-weather skirt in muddy colours :)
