hyper sensitive skin -- recommendations!

Am pregnant which probably doesn't help, but used my usual Avene cream and developed a major rash Shock.

So, what's good for hyper sensitive skin?

Maybe something completely natural like Weleda or Trilogy?

sleepysox · 24/01/2011 18:56

TRilogy or Lush's 'Angels on Bare Skin' or ULtrabland for cleansing and Celestial for moisturising.

I have very sensitive skin and burnt it using Boot's Protect and Perfect. For about a year I could only use water to cleanse and Celestial. I can now use Trilogy too. I have used Avene in the past and also Verite by Estee Lauder. But the best is Lush if you;re on a budget and Trilogy's cleansers, toners and mositurisers for senstive skin.

Thank you Smile. Interesting about Ultra Bland as it has peanut oil. I have a peanut allergy, but just looked it up and apparently one is allergic to the protein and not the oil (or vice versa) so it should be OK. Weleda Almond range looks good too, so may try both. Grin

Weleda day cream was too rich for my face and left it coated in a thin film of oil, which itched and made me scratch. It took ages to soak in, so I found it aggravating on my skin.

AppleHEAD · 24/01/2011 21:46

Sissy is great but VERY expensive

AppleHEAD · 24/01/2011 21:46

Sisley even

KristinaM · 24/01/2011 21:51

I was also v sensitive when pg and used Simple or super drug unperfumes stuff. I am not a luxury brand person.......

wendihouse22 · 24/01/2011 21:54

Dermalogica. Expensive (less than Sisley) but good stuff.

TigerseyeMum · 24/01/2011 22:52

dermalogica saved me when I developed sensitive skin and my skin fell off. I am able to use other products now but at the time even my GP couldn't help me.

TheWaterHorse · 25/01/2011 17:00

Liz Earle dry and sensitive moisturiser saved my skin after it was ravaged by excema, mulitiple skin infections and newly-acquired sensitivity to my existing skin care.

lololizzy · 25/01/2011 17:13

Protect and Perfect burns me too..
only things i can use are Liz earle/ Kiehls ultra facial cream/ Barefoot Botanicals SOS

jamaisjedors · 25/01/2011 17:36

Eucerin Aquaporin Rich - recommended by my dermatologist.

I have never had a reaction to it and I have (severe) atopic eczema.

csemum · 25/01/2011 19:54

I have struggled with eczema all my life and after trying EVERYTHING (the eucerins, the clarins, the creme de la mers....) I went to a specialist at Chelsea and Westminster. He gave me the name of a DREAM CREAM. It is incredible. Since then, I have recommended it to everyone (even women at the gym who I see have sore skin and students who I see have eczema). It is called DOUBLEBASE and you can get it at Boots. The key is to use a small amount, rub it in your hands first, then pat on to you face.

Trust me...try it. It's the best.

lololizzy · 25/01/2011 20:02

Lucas Pawpaw is great too

lololizzy · 25/01/2011 20:03

who is Doublebase by, csemum?

csemum · 25/01/2011 20:06

Hi lololizzy

Not sure who Doublebase is by I'm afraid. It's £10 for a large tub and comes in a pink box. I think you have to ask at the pharmacist for it (although it's non prescription)

let me know if you try it and like it

lololizzy · 25/01/2011 20:07

going to look tomorrow! am always on lookout for the one perfect product! (and cheaper than the Kiehls..though the K is worth it!)

csemum · 25/01/2011 20:22

lololizzy...exciting! Let me know how you get on!

I use the Simple range for my sensitive skin and no probs at all

Ash74 · 28/01/2011 10:14

You should check out the A'kin skincare range - it's great for really sensitive skin and for pregnant ladies, as the products are natural and chemical-free.

kiery · 28/01/2011 10:18

Have you tried Green people?

Worked wonders on my sensitve dd2 when she was a baby and have all used it ever since.

I buy online and am not sure if they sell through any supermarkets any longer (they used to sell in Sainsbury's and Waitrose i think)

ClenchedBottom · 28/01/2011 10:19

I'm afraid it's one of those things where one person's sensitive skin will react to products in a different way to another person's. The only way is to try lots of different things, which can get really expensive.
Interesting that a few people get on well with Simple stuff - my skin really does not like Simple products, and when I looked at the ingedients I felt that the products perhaps weren't as 'simple' as I had assumed.

ClenchedBottom · 28/01/2011 10:20

I use Green People kids stuff on my DS - I think I've got it from John Lewis/Waitrose before, or the independent 'whole food and lovely stuff' in our local town.
