I am CRAP when it comes to choosing accessories/shoes etc - I always end up just wearing my same old black heels, black cardi and bag. I'm going to a wedding in April and am thinking about buying this dress What do I wear it with? I need everything - shoes, coverup, jewellry, bag - and all as cheap as possible (or classics which I will wear lots.

Why are some people (i.e. me) so bad at this??

If it's April the weather will still be a bit on the brisk side so bare legs and sandals might be tricky. I'd say don't go for black shoes unless you think you can get away with strappy high heeled sandals and a fake tan. Get red shoes. Solid black shoes will be too heavy, and white might be too summery. I'd say a white or black little jacket - Short and flared, like Audrey Hepburn, if you can find it. Hang on, I'll look....

ginmakesitallok · 23/01/2011 08:50

what about these red shoes? I can't do really high heels, or kitteny type heels - I don't want to fall on my arse and there will be lots of dancing with my 1 and 7 year old!

Hmm. Pretty, but perhaps a bit officey? But if you can't cope with too much heel height then it could be tricky. What about a wedge? That way they can be a bit more elegant but still give you stability.

FellatioNelson · 23/01/2011 08:56

these are proper lovely. Too high, I know, and black, but not too heavy because of the peep toe and the red.

ginmakesitallok · 23/01/2011 08:59

those are lovely - but honestly I'd break my neck in them - I have a dodgy knee which has dislocated a few times, so need something I feel stable in!

Those shoes are a bit too clumpy for the dress. What about these

TragicallyHip · 23/01/2011 09:03

Or these?

FellatioNelson · 23/01/2011 09:05

these?

or these?

I just can't see this dress without some decent heels. Can't you rethink the dress?

FellatioNelson · 23/01/2011 09:11

How tall, how old, what dress size, and how good are your legs/ankles?

ginmakesitallok · 23/01/2011 09:11

Yes - can rethink the dress! Any ideas? Am size 16/18, 5ft 9, good legs, and needs to be worn with not too high heels!!

OP posts:
FellatioNelson · 23/01/2011 09:12

A bit summery but these could work if you've got slimmish legs.

ginmakesitallok · 23/01/2011 10:17

oh and 36 years old

these come in red and not too high think you need a bit of a heel and something elegant/not too clumpy. nice dress btw

ginmakesitallok · 23/01/2011 22:06

I like it! Shoes seem OK - but I've never worn suede shoes!

its as simple as typing in 'red shoes' and seeing what you like Grin

sorry that's a very long post hope it helps a bit.

Thanks annie! Would never have thought of topshop - will have to go down town tomorrow and have a look. Haven't actually bought dress yet - will have to go try it on!

Wow Annie, you were busy! Well done! Does the dress have blue in it then? I thought it was black but it's so hard to tell with very dark colours from photos. Love the daisy bracelet and the Top Shop shoes.

That webiste looks fab. I'm going to put it on my favourites.
