My dark haired DD has dyed her hair with a bleaching kit and it's a disaster. We want to dye it back to brown but I'm not sure how to dot it without her hair falling out or it turning green. Anyone know what to do?

Put a red on it then a brown.

Thanks ednurse. How long should we leave it before doing that?

She did it herself but it's all patchy. The roots are still dark then its bright yellow then the ends are light brown. She is gutted.

Oh no! Still 'ombre hair' is very popular at the moment. Grin

Do it whenever, you can always whack a deep conditioner on it when it's all done.

Definitely red first!

Ok thanks. Will put the red on in the morning and will maybe do the brown on Wednesday or something. She still wants to be blonde bless her. She thinks that I will let her stay off school on Monday because of this. Wishful thinking!

Red then brown is the way to go as that is the way colour leaves the hair in the first place to become blond (just backwards), hairdressers always fill the hair first to a base colour and then dye it brown otherwise the hair can end up green. Don't do it yourself unless you really know what you are doing as the different sections may take the dye very differently and still end up different colours, the hair is already weakened and if you get it wrong it could be a further disaster and the hair might not be able to take another correction especially as it will need a permanent dye to cover it up. I would suggest if you are unsure that she wraps her head to go to school and you book an appointment at a reputable hairdressers (either a cancellation tomorrow or after school on Monday) who can sort it out for you.

At least now she knows that mam is always right. I told her this would happen but she went ahead anyway. Sometimes you have to let them make their own mistakes. Can't understand why she want's to be blonde anyway, she has the complexion that would really suit dark and glossy. But you can't tell teenagers can you?

If it does go green aparantly tomato ketchup will work
My hairdresser told me that!
Works for highlights that go green after swimming too
