Can you shrink jeans?

Bought some straight leg jeans from Boden - they make me feel like I'm wasting away Grin

How can I go about making them smaller rather than me continue to be deluded?

I shrink my jeans by eating lots of chocolate, biscuits and cakes.

I find it is a very effective method, and one I would highly recommend! Wink

aaah! I see your logic Smile...... but I want a serious answer

The only serious answer I could give is that you could attempt to shrink them by putting them in a tumble dryer on high heat.

Otherwise - could they be altered to fit you? Realise it might be cheaper to buy another pair in a smaller size than to pay for alterations.....

Might be worth a trip to the laundrette to use a tumble dryer....

frigadoon · 22/01/2011 15:22

Does that make them stay smaller?
At present they seem to be growing throughout the day Confused

ebay them and get yourself a new pair! If they still have the tags on, you'll get a good price for them.

I've hot washed and tumble dried jeans, but none have shrunk - sorry!

frigadoon · 22/01/2011 15:25

Think that may be the only answer moog
Athough they are doing wonders for my confidence.Grin

i manage to shrink jeans at the time in the tumble drier. I'd be worried a hot wash will remove the dye.

frigadoon · 22/01/2011 16:03

Do they stay shrunk miche

If they still have the tags on I would phone and Boden and tell them that you want to return them but no longer have the slip and see what they say.

Meggles76 · 22/01/2011 17:36

Come on it's Boden FGS! Ring them, tell them your not happy and they will refund replace unless they are super old

frigadoon · 22/01/2011 17:44

Hmmmmm you may be onto something there.......is it normal for their jeans to stretch so much?

OP posts:
frigadoon · 22/01/2011 18:02

Have emailed Boden, fingers crossed!

When we were teenagers (in teh 70s) we used to shrink our levis to fit by lying in a hot bath in them. It worked - we got blue legs though!

frigadoon · 23/01/2011 17:39

I remember doing that too!!!!!

However I don't think lycra was an issue in those days Grin

Boden customer service is second to none. Glad you got it sorted.

Havingkittens · 24/01/2011 10:10

amothersplace - that was before they started selling pre shrink denim as standard. You can still buy shrink to fit denim from Levis but they are the vintage style ones which are £££££! I treated myself to a pair last year and have a photo of myself sitting in the bath with them on.

Mmmmm remember the ad with Nick Kamen stripping down to his undies in the launderette?
