I may be looking for a new hairdresser as mine might be closing.

Has anyone got any good recommendations- such as Michael van Clarke?

I have a longish choppy bob- think Lulu! I am not young, but look younger than I am, so don't want "classic" (mumsy) but don't want anyhere that does trendy one style fits all thing either.

I am looking ideally at the area around back of J Lewis/Marylebone, etc or W End as come into Kings X by train.

Price wise, I would pay up to £100 for a cut as have hair done about every 8-10 weeks as i am growing it a bit.

any names?

Daniel Galvin, George St (off Baker St) would suit you geographically. The guy I've been to there costs a bit more than that, but there are certainly others who charge around the price you suggest. It is very 'posh', though not unfriendly, and I was a bit irritated by how much they charge for extras such as food and drinks - though you don't need to order those of course.

My own faourite hairdresser at Aveda having decamped to USA, am currently trying Hari's - like the unponcy atmosphere there, but it's in South Kensington, so not where you want, and anyway, Hari himself having just retired, not sure if I've yet found my 'ideal cutter' there yet..

I have been to Michael Van Clarke a couple of times and I think they cut very well. I was a bit annoyed with them the second time I went because the person I had previously seen was not available and they booked me with a more senior "stylist" (or whatever they call them) without telling me that they were more senior and so I ended up paying a lot more than I wanted to.
But I will probably go back there.

The guy I've been to at Galvin is called Lino. Nice and very professional, if pricy. I went back to Hari's because I preferred the colourist there, not because Lino isn't excellent. As I said, am still to settle down with a regular cutter at Hari's, as Hari himself (who cut my hair) only retired at Christmas.
