I havent heard of it, will go google and see what I can find out.

TheMonster · 20/01/2011 18:00

I've not heard of it before. Was it from a stall?

JaxTellersOldLady · 20/01/2011 18:02

Are you in USA OP? It looks like the eye makeup kit retails for around USD40.

someone with more knowledge will be along soon I think.

EasterEggHuntIsOver · 20/01/2011 18:04

Was it one of those concession-type stands within a shop/department store?
Vaguely remember something like this being sold in my local WHSmiths.

£35 doesn't sound too bad though for a year's worth of make-up.

Hi

No I'm in northern Ireland, thanks everyone it was a stand inside a shopping centre I'm usually not so stupid will try it on later

Found this comment by a shop-keeper about Victoria Jackson make-up :(

"Don't be taken in by this brand.

I had a rep come into my shop Xmas 2007 with a hard sell telling me how great this product was and that it wouldn't be in the shops or tv till next year (still waiting to see it). Apparently it would be featured on Ideal World and QVC.

The make up is nothing like bobby brown, mac or anything else they have said and if you look on the cast lists on the internet movie database she hasn't done any make up for Pirate's of the Caribbean or sex in the city or even desperate house wives. Pure LIES!!

I struggled for a whole year to sell this make up, dropped the prices, buy on get one free, buy two get the cheapest free, every promotion under the sun but I still couldn't shift it.

Was told that if I couldn't sell it the rep would come back and take it off my hands - that never happened after numerous messages and telephone calls.

Put it on ebay no body wanted it on there and if they did they wanted all 26 sets for next to nothing - in the end I had to bite the bullet and took a massive loss on ebay after re listing it 7 times. But to be honest I was completely sick of the site of it.

One reason I think I struggled is because the reps went into every shop in the area and sold the kits for 20 each but it wasn't cosmetics shops or hair dressers it was even the shoe shop, gym, fruiters and the pie shop etc so it they bought the kits for family members it ment I had no chance of selling it anyway.

My advice - STAY WELL AWAY the company and the reps are all based on LIES!!!"

Monadami · 20/01/2011 18:13

Did the Sales Rep tell you you'd get hundreds of pounds worth of free makeup and accessories and then proceeded to sell you a makeup kit of tat? If so, then I had one at my local shopping centre try to sell me some, a brand I'd never heard of. The makeup was totally inappropriate for my colouring and she tried to make out it would suit all skin tones. I didn't buy any of it.

Gogopops · 20/01/2011 18:21

I think there was one of these at our WH Smiths a couple of years ago - the rep 'lured' me in with a promise of some free make-up brushes. She said that the brand was used on film sets and on catwalks but I'd never heard of it.

She had handed me the brushes which I was initially told were free and she was gushingly friendly. When I declined to buy the make-up she grabbed the brushes off me and got very nasty!!

Never seen the brand since. Don't know if they're any good but I wasn't very impressed with the sales rep.

gregssausageroll · 20/01/2011 18:31

I bought some last year. It isn't anything like bobbi brown as I was lead to believe.

Some of it I didn't like but other bits I thought were ok. I thought the lipglosses were ok as was the kabuki brush (which is what I was out to buy anyway). The bronzer was ok as were the eyeshadows. It was just ok.

It isn't really a scam....just good sales pitch. They are not doing anything illegal by selling it to you. They might fib but that doesn't make it a scam.

See how you go with it. You might like it or you might not but TBH that is the case with any brand of make up you buy from Victoria Jackson to Maybelline to Chanel.

Tooodlepip, I got caught by the Victoria Jackson girls in a shopping centre in Lisburn last week. Was ambushed by girl admiring DS who then launched into full spiel about the products. Must admit I bought the basic kit just to get away as I'm pathetic about brushing people off (though I did like the colours...) Drove the whole way home half expecting the guys from The Real Hustle show to jump out and tell me I was a fool! However I've been using the products and find them fine Smile. Course, I'm no expert but the products last well on the skin and overall the colours are pretty nice. So, to conclude, I don't feel I've been done over- hurray!

marriednotdead · 20/01/2011 21:07

We have had their reps in our shop recently, acting amazed that I'd never heard of her and trying to flog their wares at 80% off RRP Hmm

Glad at least 1 person is happy though Smile

Tooodlepip · 20/01/2011 22:37

Hi

Thank god someone likes the products am gonna give them a go and even if I dont really like them I will console myself with the amount of stuff I got for £30

I was given some of this by my MiL (she worked in a callcentre so reckon they had been in there selling their wares...) Anyway I love my makeup and am quite particular so I wasnt overly excited but I honestly think its fine, the blushers are particularly good, quite a lot of pigment in them so they last well. Id say its comparable quality to Max Factor so dont think £35 for a years supply is bad at all!
