Boden is so disappointing this season

I am not a HUGE Boden fan, but each season i will buy 2-3 staples such as knitwear, trousers and maybe a coat. No applique or fun anything.

This catalogue is awful.
I have ordered a pair of summer trousers and a mac.

The skirts, dresses, Ts, knitwear etc is awful- sme as previous seasons, or horrible colours, or just frumpy.

Sorry for another slagging offf Boden post, but often i covet something and wait until the sales- this time there is nothing i want.

i think they have become predictable and stale.

Have you been spending pirateparty? Smile

I totally agree. I used to be a very loyal Boden customer spending £££ on myself and the kids - even the husband benefitted now and then. I've been getting bored for a few seasons now, with the same cuts and styles and reducing my spend there gradually. Boden is still great for PJs as they last and hold their shape well, I always buy a gorgeous coat every sale and one or two kids dresses make a cute addition to any little girls wardrobes but thats it now - I've given up on the rest.

In fact, has anyone noticed how much better the quality of kids clothes at Next is lately. I stopped buying there several years ago due to poor quality but was tempted back by the Xmas range and have been quite impressed. So I've saved a fortune on Boden and ordered a fair bit for the children out of Nexts Spring/Summer catalogue, so cute got to be worth a try!

I think this thread. Pops up every year. Every season in fact

Jemima - totally agree with Next for kids. I completely went off their stuff for a while, only venturing in there to get jeans for DS.

However, this season has lots of nice Ts and dresses for DD and shirts and jeans and shorts for DS.

I am also a fan of JL for DC and it still costs less than Boden

madammecholet · 23/01/2011 14:37

I bought a scarf in the sale, £29 reduced to £8.50.

It was horrid. I am astounded they were asking £30, it was thin, too short and nothing special at all.

It's gone back.

£30!!!

I agree re JL, but we haven't got one nearby and I also think Gap is fab.

Haven't been into Next for years but will go and have a look. My over-riding impression
has been that it is full of camouflage and t-shirts that say things like 'I'm Mummy's little monkey' etc which aren't my cup of tea, but will trust your judgement and go and have a look now!

Have an online shopping basket of t-shirts, shorts and tops for ds Meggles76 but haven't quite pressed 'confirm' yet... waiting to see if there is a better offer coming up as it's not t-shirt season yet! Only want the tan satchel for myself so far (well, that's all I'm going to buy as I'm 22 weeks pregnant) but am wondering whether any of the tunic tops will fit over a bump. Some of their jersey dresses are doing a great job so far, which is why I was lamenting the wrap dress which is great maternity dress if you buy a size up.

Pirate - I also hate camouflage and slogans for DC but Next definitely has some pieces that are not like that this season!

Was in JL yesterday and they have some nice striped Ts for boys - worth a look online as they were cheaper than Boden.

JemimaMop · 23/01/2011 15:04

I find that Next jeans are really poor quality at the moment. The boys seem to go through the knees within a matter of weeks!

I don't buy a lot of kids' clothes from Boden either though, I prefer Joules for them.

FrozenNorthPole · 23/01/2011 15:19

Blush I like this season - only for basic staples, but I like it. Their jeans fit me.

Mind you, I wouldn't pay full price for it. And until I found this board I was actually quite keen on very occasional pieces from Per Una but now realise that, at age 27, I'm not their target market.

I basically have no style Blush.

So, can someone tell me - if I like the look of the less garish Boden, but am disappointed by the quality, where else can I shop to get a similar look with more style?

FrozenNorthPole try White stuff - nice knitwear and skirts and tunics. Very good trousers too.
