... they're shit, right?

If not, please enlighten me.

They're like dressing up shoes for grown-ups. I wish I had somewhere to wear shoes like that. Like Cinderella's ball.

Even then, you'd need glass slippers...not shoes covered in carpet and wallpaper Grin

I like having an alternative to identikit boring plain heels available on the high street. It widens the choice available to the average shopper, i.e. me.

Am surprised there aren't any glass slippers in the Irregular Choice range. Quite an oversight really.Grin

Would wear only a few of them, love looking at others but know they're not for me, and a large proportion I wouldn't have anywhere near me and wouldn't even wear into town for a dare/bet.

bethelbeth · 16/01/2011 19:08

I have a few pairs but they're not the most comfortable.
Their earlier collections were more vintage-inspired rather than out and out odd and so were more wearable.
I think sometimes people who are wearing them are trying too hard to be 'quirky'.
IMHO there are nicer unusual shoes than irregular choice that are better made and comfier. The company seems to have lost its way a bit.

bethelbeth - that's exactly the impression I get "trying too hard to be 'quirky'".. Quirky is also impossible when they are so mass produced, I think?

You're so right.
I think they misjudged their Market when they started featuring heavily in schuh and office. If people are going to pay £££ for interesting shoes then they're not going to want to buy them from somewhere that every Tom Dick and Harry knows about.
They would have been better staying as an indie brand.
In any case there are nicer and more unusual shoes out there- but I'm not saying where in case it starts a mumsnet curse! (fly boots anyone? I'm sick of the sight of them!)

ullainga · 17/01/2011 09:56

they look lovely, but are they actually wearable? I mean most seem to be made of fabric, wouldn't it stain immediately? Or are you only supposed to wear them indoors?

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 17/01/2011 12:19

They're just shoes fgs. Some are fabric, some are leather, just like every other brand on the market. Some are nicer/more wearable than others, just like every other brand on the market.

Example: I have a black sequin pair of heels that look gorgeous but kill my feet. I have a giraffe-print pair of heels that look gorgeous and are surprisingly comfortable. I'm sure you can think of similar examples of variance from other high street brands.

I imagine they are sublime to some and ridiculous to others. For me, definitely ridiculous, but then horses for courses (ie am sure my shoes are classic to some, dull to others)...
