To be so happy to have a new pair of boots when they don't even have a heel... and are waterproof and good for ice and altogether sensible...

I'm doomed aren't I?

They are really nice cyb but I am all sorted for boots this winter. Bargain though. V. Tempted.

PerArduaAdNauseum · 14/01/2011 22:58

Jynxed - then why on earth do I see them all wearing diarrhoea-tan boots?

And I know it's not fashion. I'm just bewailing embracing middle age...

no kittenish heels here solid as a rock

PerArduaAdNauseum · 14/01/2011 23:02

Ooh, you nearly had me cyb... But £170 is about £130 more than bargainous...

I especially like the fact that they are EUROPEAN MADE not Chinese, Cyb Grin

Jynxed · 14/01/2011 23:04

Ah yes, take your point, not fashionable at all. But I also only wear flats and would take comfort over fashion any day (also middle aged).

AmandaCooper · 14/01/2011 23:10

I bought some trainers for going out in recently and the teenage sales guy on the till said to me "aw are you just looking for something comfy?"

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 14/01/2011 23:12

Did you give him Withering Look? Cheeky hooligan.

PerArduaAdNauseum · 14/01/2011 23:13

Did you shoot him Amanda?

I love them. My niece (aged funky 19) has some.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 14/01/2011 23:19

In fact, I think I may have been tempted to call for his immediate termination of employment

PerArduaAdNauseum · 14/01/2011 23:25

Oh I say Maisie! Shock

OP posts:
Maisiethemorningsidecat · 14/01/2011 23:30

Too much, perhaps?

PerArduaAdNauseum · 14/01/2011 23:34

Well, I'm just the shy and retiring type so I couldn't possibly comment

Actually, in RL I'm more likely to have bumbled some witty reply, but on here I prefer to imagine that I am a confident, assertive 42 year old who can take out young whippersnappers with the raise of an eyebrow

PerArduaAdNauseum · 14/01/2011 23:41

Now I'm picturing an eyebrow in the shape of Indiana Jones' whip Grin

That's a shape that I don't suppose the threading lady is asked for on a regular basis!

PerArduaAdNauseum · 14/01/2011 23:44

And probably a sign I should head to bed! Nanight.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 14/01/2011 23:49

Night night!

AmandaCooper · 15/01/2011 00:32

By the time I'd realised the import of what he'd said, I was already in M&S picking up some thermal vests. How I tutted!

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 15/01/2011 22:49

Maisie, if you want rigger boots there are a few brands that go down to a size 3 or 4. Sadly they aren't so classy (but useful if you would rather not risk crushing your feet). Grafters definitely make a small size.

The advantage mind you (as per Jynxed) is that I've never found them heavy & wear them a lot, must be because of being so much smaller.

echt · 16/01/2011 06:54

Even before I clicked on the rigger boots, I was thinking, I bet they're like furry Blunstones, the peerless Aussies workboot.

And they were. Very nice.

echt · 16/01/2011 06:54

Oh, I am middle-aged.
