Navy coat with black trousers? Help?

I've fallen in love with a lovely Bench jacket they have in a shop down the road. They have it in black in the shop: www.stylefile.nl/bench-earl-w-jas-fid-22862.html

In the shop it's ?132, online it's ?90. I intend to wear said coat for work, so it would mostly be worn with black/charcoal/dark coloured trousers and skirts. Would navy work, or should I go for black?

I'd have to say black but only because my mother always taught me that navy and black is wrong!

Navy and blcak don't go together. Go for black.
