I got one a couple of months ago and got a bit addicted to the pain and was trying it on a different part of my body every night! Then the cold snap happened and I stopped using it because it was too cold to sit around naked. I have barely used it since.

I was quite impressed with it though - it got my (usually man-hairy) arms super smooth, and the regrowth is next to nothing. Less impressed on my legs, seemed to take forever and grew back within about 2 weeks.

I'm sure I'll go back to it again in the summer.

I did exfoliate though - do I just give up with the epilator, maybe my skin can't cope, shame.
And the raised red bumps are not going, either.....

I just drove to Boots to get one (and paracodal for my cough!) and scanned it into Redlaser on my iPhone, and its £53 cheaper from a website called Base.com so I've ordered it from there and will have it in a couple of days.

God knows why Boots think they can sell it for that much.

Anyway I shall update when I've had a go!

One word - AGONY!

Never, ever again : (

Aw Gilly

I used to have one years and years ago, when I was a teenager. It was a sort of figure of eight looking wire coil thing, and it spun round pulling hairs out. Primitive contraption

That hurt - enough for me not to bother with it, particularly round the ankle

I think I can probably put up with an epilator these days...particularly as I can handle waxing, which is no picnic at first. If not, they tell you to use it 3 times in 100 days and if you hate it, to send it back Grin

Fingers crossed, I can't be assed with waxing now...

ClenchedBottom (love your name!) I just read today that apparently advice that used to be given to scrub/exfoliate to free ingrown hairs can make the problem worse (It's certainly never worked for me) and a better solution is to dissolve some aspirin in water, apply for 10 minutes then wipe off. I think it said to do it twice a day for a few days.

TattyDevine · 13/01/2011 16:12

That makes sense HairExtensions. Aspirin is salycic acid (if you think you've heard of that, think anti dandruff shampoo and wart treatments) and of course the good old aspirin facial of 1980's fame.

So its still exfoliation but without all the rubbing which might exacerbate it

Worth a try.
