Can anyone tell me about Uniqlo?

I keep hearing / seeing it recommended so I've just had a quick look on the website. It looks like my kind of thing - good range of basics and decent prices.

I hate having to rummage through a website to look at things though - is there a catalogue? And what is the quality like? And is customer service any good? And the sizing?! I had a quick look at the sizing chart Confused and from the measurements, it looks as though I ought to be ordering at least a 14 Shock Can this be right? Most places I buy a 10 these days, with the occasional 12 - do their clothes come up really small?

V V grateful for any enlightenment on the matter, O wise ones Grin

I visited Uniqlo last summer! (oooh!) Some of it v nice, some a bit ropey. I don't think the website shows it all to advantage, actually. I've read in lots of magazines that the thermo-whatsit leggings are a star product. Yes, I think their sizings are on the small side. Some good basics. Some nice colours.. and sometimes they collaborate with some very cool/hip designers. If you like their stuff, you may also like Muji's clothes. However, beware, bought a lovely cardi in Muji that shrunk drastically on first wash, despite following instructions. All Uniqlo's stuff has washed up fine and worn well so far.

The only thing I have bought and kept from Uniqlo was a load of thermals. They are excellent and I bought medium size. I am normally a 10/12 - about 50/50 depending on shop - M&S 10 if that helps?.

With a view to your sizingConfused as to what you would be. I daren't order anything less than a M.

I ordered a down coat in size M and sent it back, lovely as it was, just an impractical champagne colour.

I've got a couple of pairs of uniqlo dark denim skinny jeans - which had lot of stars next to them (won some award or another) - would recommend.

Walked past last week and they had the skinny utility trousers in the window which looked nice (in all the shops at the moment - houlihan rip-offs) think I'll try them on. Looked reasonably priced at £29.99

Apart from that I've had lots of t-shirt tops (similar quality to GAP possibly a little cheaper).

DH has had a few v-neck jumpers which he liked and seemed to wash well (from memory).

Good for basics - haven't bought anything else from there. I would say clothes are true to size.

Heatech stuff is brilliant.
Jeans are great - have skinnies and boyfriend. They fit well.
Merino washes well.

CointreauVersial · 11/01/2011 23:18

Clothing is definitely sized for the petite Japanese figure, so if in doubt size up.

The Heat Tech stuff is legendary - they also do great skinnies and jeggings with lots of lycra to hold you in!

Quite Gap-like, but better prices imho.

Monadami · 12/01/2011 00:37

Yes I also would liken it to Gap, but cheaper. Sometimes they have some really nice things, other times quite bland, boring and shapeless. I bought some great Skinny jeans there about 4 years ago, shame I'm too fat to fit in them now.

im your size and i always get the small.

M is 12-14 in UQ.

their leggings jeans are the best.

their cashmere/wool goes holey.
