when I look in the mirror I feel rather sorry for theperson looking bsck. They look exhausted and like they've not really cared how they look recently.

So tomorrow I'm having a hair cut and going to colour my hair. I want to get some cleanser stuff and moisturiser but which sort? I'd like affordable and something that will mkae me all youthful and dewy looking. if it hides the fact that my eyebags have bags then that wold be a bonus. But it needs not to upset my psoriasis which is making a rampant come back. oh and we only have boots and superdrug!

thanks for any suggestions :)

My suggestions are:

Non-irritating cleanser like Olay for sensitive skin or similar. Use a flannel if you can for a gentle exfoliating effect.

Consider Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion (NOT 1,2,3 or 4 which are all overly harsh). Contains a small amount of salicylic acid which I think can help psoriasis.

Perhaps a tinted moisturiser? Olay Regenerist has one containing SPF 15 which ticks another box too.

I'm using Olay 3 point serum and it's bloody brilliant Grin Not cheap!(25 quid) I got it for Xmas but it really works. You can get it from Boots and Superdrug. I also use 'Simple' cleanser/face wash - hope these are OK with your psoriasis though. On the plus side since I have used it I have been told I look really 'well' and have beautiful skin!

Thank you :)

do you have somewhere near you that does eyebrow threading? Dept stores and nail bars etc often have this service now. I do this every couple of months and it makes my face look groomed without me having to do anything. Having a well shaped brow really 'lifts' the face, I think.

I've taken to slapping on Olay's Everyday Sunshine day moisturiser so I don't look like too much of a grey dishrag. Makes me look like I'm knackered in July instead of January ;)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/01/2011 08:03

Hero - that sounds slightly scary - I have never had my eyebrows done Grin I'll consider it, but perhaps I'll drag a friend along to have hers done too (and she can go first!)

That moisturiser sounds very cheerful!

the threading stings a wee bit, but they trim and shape and have transformed my wonky caterpillars into something resembling an arch Shock

not sure if the olay sunshine stuff would be kind to psoriasis or not, my sis has psoriasis and uses Biotherm sensitive moisturiser which she swears by. Tis ££ tho.

I also get excema.I am in my 40's and look younger[but that may be fat padding out my wrinkles].I use aqueous cream to cleanse and clinique facial wash.Day cream is clinique superdefense and have just also started using laser serum [also Clinique].At night i use a plain oil kike almond or jojoba with a few drops of essential oil added.I have tried numerous other brands but seem to react to all so now just stick to clinique.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/01/2011 10:34

So many choices!! Thank you :) i have a bit of a plan I think to flick through some of the womens magazines and see which free samples they are offering, then I can try a few for the price of 2-3 mags! (I bet they all have the same samples though)
If that doesnt work I think I'll take a list from here into boots and see what they have on offer.

I have a free sample of the olay 3 point serum that mrsfollowill recommended- I won't use it as am too lazy to do serum as well as moisturiser so if you want it PM me with your address Smile
It's only a tiny tube that came free with a magazine but you could at least try it to check it doesn't irritate your skin

might try the tinted moisturiser you recommend PastaDiva am using the Clinique Dramatically different one at the moment and don't like it much- It gives me spots

TracyK · 11/01/2011 10:51

Why not just order online? Then the worlds your oyster. Look through quidco.com for places offering free P&P. Or amazon is good for all the reviews of the items.

I like using castor oil and olive oil method with a hot flannel. Think also a good facial massage to get the blood circulating - also some cardio exersise every day helps. Even 5 mins of star jumps in the bedroom!

I get my moisturiser from www.coolessentials.com - called Mir. And then mix it with a little decleor oil in the winter. I have psoriasis - though not on my face. Am using Yes to Carrots body butter as its organic and I like the thought of the 'veg' goodness!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/01/2011 11:22

omno - that is really kind of you, thank you for the offer. I think I would be too lazy to do serum too, so I'll say no thank you :)

TracyK, thats a thought. Would save the blind panic I get when I stare at rows and rows of different packages of gunk in the shops. There is so much!!!
Have to lol at star jumps. unfortunately I get psoriatic arthritis. It is bad at the moment, hence the lack of proper sleep, looking extra crap cos I'm in quite a lot of pain. Walking is my limit at the moment. I could think star jumpy thoughts though Grin

I use the AVENE face mask as a cream when things are tough for my skin. it has no perfume, and is hypoallergenic.

It's a cream mask, that you can put on and then wipe off excess.

I just use it, almost, is a moisturiser: put on slightly too much, and pat it after 10 minutes so it's not greasy and shiny (that way i don't waste it IYSWIM)

For under eyes i think the Garnier caffeine-pen thingy is good.

All available at boots!

Chandon · 11/01/2011 11:33

pat face with a TISSUE, I mean

TracyK · 11/01/2011 12:01

You could also try hanging over the end of your bad to get the blood flowing to your face.
I use Elemis Papaya facial exfoliator (but a mask not an actual scrub). I got it years ago off ebay and use it every couple of weeks - but when I do I notice a diff (albeit just for that day). I've noticed it getting a few good reviews recently in the mags

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/01/2011 12:26

I have come to the conclusion that what I actually need is a week in a health spa Grin
Thank you so much for all the tips :)
