Face moisturiser recommendations

I'm looking for a moisturiser suitable for
spotty skin that is also sensitive. Ideally with SPF and not tested on animals.
I have tried nivea q10 and Boots protect and perfect both of which gave me horrible lumps under my skin that have taken months to disappear so keen to avoid this again.
If it has anti ageing properties then great Grin

Neals yard. I have problem skin and it's the only brand that has worked.

MickyLee · 08/01/2011 15:23

I know a moisturiser which would be perfect for you. Clinque Superdefence for oily skin spf25. It is very light but not watery and protects skin from polution and sun. Also I am certain it will not clog your skin at all. Go to the clinque counter and ask for a sample!
Oh not sure if clinque test on animals though!

Lush Celestial or Skins Shangri-la are both amazing.

Also reccomend this from Trevano, beautiful.

shufflebum · 08/01/2011 15:39

ooh lots to choose from, will investigate and report back thanks.
Happy for any more suggestions though!

Try Liz Earle - all natural and suits sensitive skin. I used to use Neals Yard but prefer this now.

Elemis pro-collagen marine. Read the reviews. Excellent cream.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 09/01/2011 22:32

Agree with Elemis also Dermalogica Active Moist

MickyLee · 10/01/2011 19:09

I got spots from Elemis Pro-collagen, it really blocked up my skin :(

shufflebum · 10/01/2011 20:51

oh no I was thinking about going for the Elemis, you've put me off now! (same happened to me with Protect and Perfect, has taken ages for the buggers to go)

I recommend the Avene range, it's done wonders for my skin. I use the moisturiser for oily skin and the anti-ageing eye cream. I also soemtimes use the light moisturiser with SPF. It's formulated for sensitive skin, although I don't know if it's been tested on animals. I get it from Boots.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 10/01/2011 22:05

Look at Dermalogica special cleansing gel and active moist. It really sorted my skin out when I had pcos spots.

MickyLee · 11/01/2011 08:34

Have to say Dermalogia is great for skin prone to spots. I trained in the range when I was a beauty therapist. Espa is also lovely for problem skin. Elemis is fantastic and lots of clients had great results but I got that congested skin where you get bumps under the skin that never come to the surface, and like you it took ages to clear them.

Make sure you exfoliate to get the best results from any cream. Otherwise you are ust treating old skin.

The best way to exfoliate gently and cheaply is to massage a thick cleansing cream all over your face and neck then use a clean face cloth, rinsed in warm water, wring out and take all the cream off x2 every night. Your skin will be glowing and supersoft.

NoWayNoHow · 11/01/2011 08:39

Ah, I was going to suggest Nivea Q10. Only other one I can think of that might be suitable is something from the "Simple" range - they tend be be really good for sensitive skin as the products don't have any nasties in them.

TrillianAstra · 11/01/2011 08:41

I have Olay complete care for sensitive skin - it's very light, not sure if that's what you want or not but I like it. SPF15. No idea about animals.

shufflebum · 11/01/2011 12:48

Olay and Simple are a definite no no for the animals.
MickeyLee I used Dermalogica ages ago, will have another look. Not sure about their testing or Avene.

MAC Studio Moisture Fix SPF15. Lightweight so good for Oily skin and they don't test on animals.

hugebelly · 12/01/2011 21:49

Whatever you buy, please ensure it has a broad spectrum SPF. This covers both UVA and UVB. There's not point in having just SPF. The SPF will stop you burning but it's the UVA protection that will stop you aging. Ideally one that contains Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide.

shufflebum · 13/01/2011 11:31

Will make sure to double check hugebelly Smile

I've used Dermalogica products for years, and love it! I use the Active Moist moisturiser, which would be ideal for you! I find it really affordable and if you get the bigger sizes, it's worth the money! Try www.jerseybeautycompany.co.uk - great prices and free delivery! Use this website every time! :)

Ash74 · 14/01/2011 16:43

You should give the Normalising Day Face Cream by Sophyto a try. It is based on traditional Ayurvedic principals, regulates the skin?s functions and is lightweight, so a good daily moisturiser for sensitive acne prone skin.
