If you have an allergic reaction to a beauty product the company should give you a full refund on the product. In the meantime, I recommend taking an antihistamine to calm the reaction down.

I use loads of Neals Yard without any problem but have to be very careful with any face cream. The Frankinsense cream made my skin sore too but thats not unusual for me. I use Dr. Hauska Day Rose Cream when I remember and it is fine with no reaction.

If its of any help whatsoever, I would be very doubtful that its a reaction to the frankincense essential oil itself. It is a very gentle oil - I have used it on both my children since they were very young and it is commonly used to heal skin conditions. It is more likely to be another ingredient (including potentially another oil in the blend).

I can't wear Neals Yard or Dr Haushka stuff either - in fact, I've yet to find anything besides from bloody aqueous cream that I can wear long term Sad.

I tried it again last night used it more sparingly and it was ok no redness. I had put it on in the morning then my make up straight after so maybe it reacted to that. I don't want to look like that every day though so will probably just use it as a night cream.
Thank you to everybody that replied. As i say i don't class myself as having sensitive skin but i do suffer with allergies. Sometimes my gums react to whitening toothpaste. Strange !

mmmwine thanks for that. Tbh, I've always assumed I couldn't wear Clinique as it's one of the many brands I've tried and failed with before.

Plus I find that they are now
on PETAs list of companies which don't test on animals (news to me), so I think I'll rock up to the counter and ask for a sample.

Actually, I haven't done that for years - miserable sales staff have always refused in the past. Maybe times have changed...

Kerstina, if you have allergies it may be that this susceptibility has extended to your skin. I know I'm an 'allergic' person - nothing serious - but you can suddenly become sensitive in a way you haven't previously and to something you've always been fine with before.

I used to be able to wear neals yard. Unfortunately I've had to use scent free products now. Even the natural essential oils cause rash and itching. I found inkey list to be the best for me. All the products are scent free, very affordable. My skin now looks good. It's annoying because I used to enjoy drinking in the natural aromas and it used to uplift me while applying. I now use essential oils around the home and not on my skin.

i can wear anything (so far) by Neal's Yard but cannot use ANYTHING by Weleda. There is something in the base ingredients that makes my skin flare up like it is on fire!

Floisme · 01/01/2025 12:26

Oh I'm sorry to hear that, it's one of the few products my skin seems to like and I've recommended it a couple of times on this board, so I feel bad now.

I definitely wouldn't persevere with it. I've had skin reactions (redness and itching) from lots of other products and, if it's really bad, the best thing I've found for calming it down is olive oil from the kitchen.
