Have bought DD massive boots - wwyd?

Happy Christmas Eve :)

DD needed some warm winter boots so took her to Clarks the other day. She measured 5.5E in both feet so they recommended the only boot they actually do in an E fitting (not sure where she's got her narrow feet from, mine were/are off the scale width-wise Confused. They seemed to fit fine to my untrained eye. Unfortunately I couldn't buy them then and there due to waiting for a cheque to clear Blush

We are now in Wales staying with DMIL for Christmas. I happened to pass a shoe shop this morning so picked up a pair of boots without DD being with me. However, the sales assistant told me that I didn't want an E fitting, I wanted an F, and they found that particular style ran small so I should get a 6 rather than a 5.5. Brought them home and they seem ginormous on DD - like wellies Blush Do I try to return them (bit of a pain as we live a couple of hundred miles away and shop is now closed for a week, but could ask DMIL to do it - is independent shoe shop, not Clark's) or buy her some thick socks for now and wait for her to grow into them? Confused

TIA :)

Depends how much discomfort they cause if worn with thick socks. If you like them and they won't hurt her feet then I'd wait for her to grow into them.

If you're not that keen on them or they do hurt her feet then get DMIL to change them. This is a bit of a risk though because unless DD is physically there to try on the replacement pair they still may not fit correctly.

If you can return them and get your money back, then that is what I would do. Otherwise I might ask for a credit note that could be used when you go to see MIL again perhaps, if you can afford to do that?

There will be sales on now so you might be able to get good boots that even fit at a reduced price.

Good luck and happy Xmas!

Thanks :) DMIL has kindly returned big boots, proper-sized ones purchased today (in the sale but original pair were too, so overall saving only £1.20!).
