Ok, not my first choice either, but I am still exceedingly grateful to the lovely parents at school who had a collection for me at the end of term.

So, anything caught your eye which is worth a splurge? I'm size 10 and 5ft 4, 42 but don't look it. I should wait for the sale, I know, if I can bear to go in there. Or can you spend gift cards online?

I've always found m&s to be far worse on spring/summer fashion than autumn/winter. So I'd buy quickly

blackcoffee · 22/12/2010 20:57

lilac I had same dilemma, only the collection was in the summer. Ended up getting a suit
yes, you can spend online, have a browse, they have reviews on there etc

blackcoffee · 22/12/2010 20:57

agree with pointy there, only just spent the cash!

SickOnMyShoulder · 23/12/2010 09:31

wow, nothing like an m&s rep coming on mumsnet with terrible english and spelling to convince you of the quality of the service and products

HalfTermHero · 23/12/2010 14:31

Sick, that is a bit harsh. The poor girl was only trying to be helpful. A good eduction is sadly lacking for many people in the UK today. I certainly would not mock a person for having missed out.

Knickers.
Maybe a bra.
Probably a cheap fleece.
Some food.
Clothes for children/school uniform.
Thermals.
Socks.

Food! Save it for a celebration or dinner party.

I was really tempted by those cashmere track suits but thought perhaps a total of £200 for loungewear a bit much, even though I'm naturally extravagant. Also thought if I wore it a lot it might bobble and, if I wore it to cook/ eat in, would be be bound to get some mark difficult to wash out on it!

I have just got the second of the dresses you linked - arrived today. Very pleased - have a wide pewter coloured leather belt from Boden which looks good with it - though a contrast colour, eg purple, might look as good or better,

Strangely enough, M and S also sent me a £100 voucher today, in return for a cashmere sweater I bought last year which dramatically shrank, despite me following all instructions. They admitted there was a fault. I often moan about them, but this does put them in a positive light and is very timely!

I just bought this - yes, I know it's Per Una, but it's actually rather nice, empire line knit, not too clingy, looks gorgeous with or without the scarf.

I originally picked it up for my mum's Christmas present, but decided I'd rather keep it myself!

lilacbauble · 25/12/2010 10:19

The first dress I liked didn't go in the sale, but I've ordered them both plus three skirts, two pairs of trousers and a pair of leggings, all in the sale. Clearly that has used up my £90 and a bit more!

I've been dubious of M&S bras since I went for a fitting and a) they told me they don't do my cupsize b) the assistant found the 36 was out of stock so kept suggesting I tried a 40 back instead. Hmm.

Tidey · 26/12/2010 21:55

Ouch, Sick. A lot of people who have had a perfectly good education don't worry too much about spelling, punctuation etc when they are writing on message boards and forums, it doesn't make them wrong about everything. If she works for M&S, she is relevant to the topic. Or was that a sweeping generalisation about people who work in shops being somehow less intelligent than others? Either way, uncalled for.

Back on topic however, I'd agree with others who have said they would spend the money on nice food.
