All I want for Christmas: The Discontinued Thread of Woe

What I really want for Christmas is the original 1980s Armani for women EdP (I now wear Coco but it just doesn't do shoulderpads any justice) and either Revlon Skinlights Illuminator in Peach or something that would even come remotely close to replicating its dewy reflective complexion lifting miraculous effect. Especially when its previous effect was really not so necessary pre-DCs. I should have stockpiled when I had the chance [bitter sleep-deprived haggard emoticon]

Please tell me your discontinued fragrance/beauty woes and maybe, together, we can either move on...or find it on ebay, or even, find a close or (heaven forbid!) even better replacement

L'Occitane solid perfume in vanilla. A tiny tin now goes for £100 odd on eBay :-(

They need to bring back Organics styling products - presumably under a new name now. Their aquafoam mousse was the only stuff I could do my hair with that wasn't £££ or would set off an allergic reaction. TiGi is nice but I keep thinking I should use sparingly.

About 20 years ago, I was bought a bottle of Chanel nail varnish - it was a pink colour but more of a 'glaze' - you couls still see your nail through it. I was in my teens at the time, but I still lust after it now!!

Elizabeth Taylor's Black Pearls. I stockpiled that as well, from discount perfume shops but the fixative is starting to go in the current bottle; not sure what the unused ones would be like.
EVery perfume I like gets discontinued! Most perfumes smell sour like cat pee on me (acid skin) so it takes forever to find one that suits - and Black Pearls was far and away the best. I will miss it so much when I run out! And so will DH - he loves it on me.

Boots used to do a mousse foundation, the lightest of which actually matched my skin tone, and because it was so light, I didn't mind wearing it. Never found anything close to it since.

I second Maybelline Sky High. I miss it so, so much!

Oh! Lush's Potion solid perfume. I LOVE the stuff. The nearest I've found (it's a spicy, powdery carnation) is Villoresi's Garofano, but it's about 12 times more expensive and I have a mental block on fragrance over £50.

Gucci No3,my last bottle came from Direct Cosmetics and is used sparingly.Also Aveda sapmoss shampoo an conditioner.It had a lovely smell,like rain on hot earth and did wonders on my hair.A very lovely Mumsnetter sent me a bottle of conditioner that she had never used,but I'm hoarding it for special occasions.

I want to add Stila cosmetics to this list - especially the lip glosses which were like a pen. Not sure if Stila was shut down completely or they just stopped selling it in the UK!

They have lots of Venezia on ebay - tres expensive though

I used to wear Shiseido Vocalise or it could have been Vocatise. Lovely fresh "green" scent but also musky at the same time.

And body shop nude lip liner - the current one is not the same!

That "gee your hair smells terrific" hair stuff I remember that! It did smell amazing.

Skinny Dip shower gel from Lush. It was half white chocolate and vanilla, half essential oils and you shook it to mix the two parts. The smell was glorious, out of this world. Why oh why did they stop making it?

Emo76 - I have just lought Stila make up from ManM Direct - v v cheap and I can confirm it's the real stuff. I got the tinted moisturiser and blusher, both fab

Monsoon perfume, dark and light blue bottles with a conical twisty lid. Loved them both, both discontinued :( I wore the pale one when I got married and have the empty bottle to sniff occasionally to reminisce.

Boots own brand Spa range. Fresh and light, loved that too.

Maybe we should start an exchange going for anyone who has any old bottles kicking about! I would certainly be willing to pay someone for the Monsoon perfumes!

I used to work for lush so witnessed quite a few of my favourite things discontinued. One was the temple of truth bubble bar which had such a gorgeous scent that really lingered on my skin. Another was the crash course in skincare facemask which smelt and felt amazing. Want them back :(
