how to brighten dull natural blonde hair?

i'm a natural blonde with many many different shades in my hair from pale blonde to redish blonde to golden honey colour.

this year i've really not been outdoors much and not been abroad and my hair is looking quite dull.

is there any way to brighten it up a bit at home without dying it a flat uniform colour which will then grow out with bad roots?

do 'semi-permanent' colours still exist? and are they any use in blonde shades?

[sorry for being so dim, but i have always liked my natural highlights so haven't been near the hair dye aisle in boots in my life!!]

oh, and i did once have professional highlights but they were too blonde, so i had two different colours next time but it was too extreme (even though i asked for it subtle) and i ended up stripey and hated it so not going back to that.

I was going to suggest using a shampoo to brighten it before going for a 'colour'. What about the John Frieda range, he does this
or [[http://www.boots.com/en/Touch-Of-Silver-Silver-Sensations-Shampoo-200ml_1047907/ this touch of silver shampoo] which removes brassy tones from blonde hair. I am auburn but like you have many tones and have over the years used both of these to brighten up the colour? Xmas Smile

oops sorry for that feeble linkage - www.boots.com/en/Touch-Of-Silver-Silver-Sensations-Shampoo-200ml_1047907/

Some of the 'blonde' shampoos which contain camomile do brighten ... can't remember which brands I've used recently

use a water based semi permanent, 8 washes, in a shade as light as your lightest colour. this will add shine, its translucent colour so your other natural colours will show through and you won,t damage your hair only condition it. any shampoo with chammomile will brighten it aswell.

My hairdresser flogged me a bright blue L'oreal shampoo which is amazing, takes all brassy tones out. Was about £14 though.
