Fitflop Boots...nice or hideous?

NinkyNonker · 17/12/2010 20:34

A friend was wearing this pair and they looked really cosy and a little neater than Uggs. I need a leather pair of ankle boots and saw these...but I can't decide if I like them or not.

Opinions please!

I tried the leather ones on and they looked hideous , shame as they felt lovely.
Looked like german army jack boots .

the mukluk ones were better

I have the black mukluks (I got them for commuting as I walk quite a bit and it is freezing right now!). They are not the most stylish footwear in the world and not quite as warm and lovely as Uggs but if you are walking quite a bit they are supportive like a trainer and quite a good practical compromise I think. I would recommend.

brimfull · 17/12/2010 20:57

they do the mukluks in leather on the john lewis website

doglover · 17/12/2010 21:09

They are SOOOOO warm and comfortable! Would thoroughly recommend any of their boots.

ilsalund · 17/12/2010 21:28

I have the ones you like and whilst they aren't the most stylish they are incredibly comfortable.
I can wear them all day (standing for the majority of the day) and my feet don't ache.

NinkyNonker · 17/12/2010 21:32

I walk a lot with dd and/or dogs,so they sound interesting. Might take a look in the flesh in the New Yr once this postal thing is sorted!

If anyone has tried the Mukluk ones,do you think they could be waterproofed? I don't mean for puddle jumping, but getting caught in the rain if you see what I mean.

website says they're water resistant

Winetimeisfinetime · 17/12/2010 21:37

I've worn my Mukluks in the snow and slush and my feet have stayed dry, so they are fairly water resistant without being treated.

They are so warm and comfortable I really don't care that they aren't stylish.

blametheparents · 17/12/2010 21:37

I have the short pair and love them! I have had a lot of nice comments about them too.
Have worn them with leggings, and jeans and both look good.

brimfull · 17/12/2010 21:41

I want a pair of mukluks ,can't decide on colour .

HouseOfBambooootiful · 17/12/2010 22:00

I tried some on and was impressed by how thick and bouncy the sole was. I LOVE a thick and bouncy sole.

Sadly couldn't justify the purchase but might buy some next winter.

marriednotmulled · 17/12/2010 22:37

I've got the mukluks and they're not as clumpy as I feared (have matchstick legs). I tend to get cold feet even in summer but these have been brilliant at keeping me warm and dry.

My feet pronate and I need to wear orthos so it was a long search to find comfy boots. The mukluks are really supportive and well worth the money for me Smile

Disclaimer- Fitflop have not paid me to endorse their boots unfortunately Grin

ShhhhSantaiscoming · 18/12/2010 14:22

same as blametheperents.

I have the short leather ones in 2nd link, they are fab. I have worn them with a dress/leggings and jeans and each time have various lovely comments.

The are comfy and imo look fab. Think they may look weird initially BUT once one they look lovely.

Good price as well at £99. I paid £125 !!

polyhymnia · 18/12/2010 17:40

Same as Winetime -my Mukluks are on their second winter and have dealt with rain and slush many times, with my feet staying dry and the boots still looking good.

Have also bought some Romika boots, after seeing them recommended on here, but that's specifically to deal with ice, as I'm irrationally(?)terrified of slipping over and they have a more 'serious' anti-skid sole than Fitflops. Road-tested the Romika today and they are excellent - also very warm yet light. But my Mukluks will continue to be my 'everyday' boot, if and when the snow and ice go.

They are fab, but pricey(?). Sorry to sound cheap, but I've seen something similar in the back of the Daily Mail(!) (not being flippant, incidentally). These may serve the purpose if you just need something for the bad weather.
