Any Advice on Babyliss WAVING Wand??

The capital letters for WAVING are because I already have the Babyliss Curling Wand and tho I love it alot, want to try and achieve bigger, loose curls (which is what I usually get a day or two after using the curling wand)
Has anyone tried the Waving wand?

check that the barrel is larger than the one you already have. with the one you have you could always try taking larger sections of hair and twist them as you wrap around the wand, may get the result you want without having to buy another.
we use the wand professionally, IMO they are divine and produce the most wonderful waves and curls, much better than GHDs

Which wand do you use?Curling or waving?

if they are conical they can do waves or curls depending on how you twist the hair around them. to be honest I didn't know there are two types, I suspect its just different names they are giving the same product

I know I use the 19 - 32 mm wand

The waving wand isn't conical, more sort of rectangular. The curling wand is conical. Just been reading all the rave reviews for the Babyliss Big Hair gadget. Looks good...?

one of my staff got one of these, we wouldn,t use it professionally but it can help people who have difficulty getting that salon big blow out look. basically there is a brush where and the hot air comes out of that whilst you can press a button to rotate the brush in a similar way to professional blowdrying.

another way to add lots of volume to hair is to get one of those mini crimpers and crimp the roots ( avoid parting area and hairline or you will see it ) this adds tonnes of volume.

CDMforever · 15/12/2010 22:37

Yes I've seen the crimper thing too. Can't decide which one to get!! Prob go for the crimper as my curling wand does do a great job and will try using it on larger sections of hair.
And although I like it when my hair's straight I do feel using just straightening irons makes it very flat and a bit limp, so if I added volume with the crimpers, hey presto! Sleek hair with a bit of oomph! (Thats the plan anyway!)

Just seen this thread.

Is it any good for hair shorter than shoulder length?

Not sure which would be better - the curling or waving wand, but at the minute my hair is between jaw and shoulder length.

merryxmaswidow · 20/12/2010 22:12

get the wand with the smaller cone, they come in three different sizes

CDMforever · 21/12/2010 17:45

Tried your suggestion widow of using fullest end of curling wand to create larger waves, Fantastic!! Gave a totally different look and had lots of compliments!!

I bought myself a curling wand today when I was out Christmas shopping.

I tried it, but I don't think my hair is long enough yet Xmas Sad My hair is only down to my jaw so either it's still too short, or I'm just not doing it right.

merryxmaswidow · 21/12/2010 22:18

at bond street tube station today they were selling them for £70 ! Shock

merryxmaswidow · 21/12/2010 22:20

tryliking, use the narrow end, small sections. let the hair cool then run your fingers through it. i used it on a woman with shorter hair than your last weekend it was fine. take your time, they take a bit of practice - even for me when i first used it on someone

TryLikingClarity · 22/12/2010 10:52

Merry - will have another go with it later today. I'm planning on using it for Christmas day, so might need a bit of practice before then Xmas Smile
