Just wanted some advice re decorating - are there any websites which are helpful? Wanted to decorate DS's room, ready for arrival of DS2 in November. The room is already creamy, wanted to add a (painted on dado rail) and have it blue/grey at the bottom and creamy at the top. Need some advice though - any MN interior designers out there?

TIA

personally, I wouldn't do a dado
(glad I didn't have to say that one out loud!)

I too wouldn't bother with a dado, how about picking your 2 colours - some ideas here on the
Farrow & Ball website - and using the neutral on 3 walls, but with one accent wall in the stronger colour?

or, painted-on vertical stripes??? my sister did that with leftover paint and a couple of other small bought tins, looks bright and cheerful, although a bit of a faff, admittedly

Thanks all - not sure if what I mean is a dado (!). Just wanted to do it in two colours as it is quite a small room, and I think that the grey/blue that I am visualising in my mind is going to be a bit heavy in such a small space. Don't want to go too light on the blue though or will end up being really cold/bathroomy?

Only have 2 walls to work with really - one wall is glass and one is cupboards (wood, light colour), so can't do the one wall of colour really, or will just look off balance?

God, I'm difficult! Also, we're in Portugal so very bright sunlight quite a lot of the time - do you think that blue/grey is going to look too english/wintery for a sunny country?

Thanks all!!

you can just do one wall with colour, we have a bright fuchsia in our north facing living room which is fabulous and warms it up. some of the farrow & ball blues are "warm" - click on the name of the colour and it gives you a little precis of the history/warmth/coolness

are the cupboards in good nick or would you consider painting those? (am going to paint dd1's chest of drawers pink soon )

one wall in an accent colour would still work
can you post a link to the shade you mean?

the one on that link called Borrowed Light is nice, and the blurb says it's often used as a bedroom colour
