Udder cream?!

Anyone use it?

I found some in the supermarket yesterday and bought it because it was so stupidly cheap and well, I wondered WTF it could be. At first I thought I was mistranslating / misreading the lable, but it really does say Udder Cream (also in English on the back).

It's obviously intended for use on humans but what, where, how? It doesn't seem to contain udders Xmas Confused

Amazon sell it - I use one as a hand cream Smile

If you ever get a chest infection "Uddermint" is excellent for clearing it (get it from farm wholesalers - tis fab and lasts for years )

Jojay · 09/12/2010 19:43

I've never used it on myself but we used to put it on the horses legs to stop them gettingmud fever in the winter.

On that basis I guess it's used as a moisturiser or barrier cream.

Dorothyredboots · 09/12/2010 19:44

Cyclists use it too. To ensure comfort in the delicate areas of the anatomy!

willowstar · 09/12/2010 20:14

my uncle is a hard core outdoor dairy farmer and uses it on his chapped hands.

fibernachi · 09/12/2010 20:15

Mmm, curiouser and curiouser.

So, is it just a bog standard moisturiser / barrier cream or does it have magical properties?

X posts willow. So it's pretty heavy duty then? It doesn't feel greasy.

Its really good - my dad has always had lovely hands from milking in spite of being out in all weathers.

The uddermint people do a handcream which is less minty, but really nice. Dad uses uddermint on his bad knee for the warming effect

FromGirders · 09/12/2010 20:23

It has magical properties :-)
First saw it for sale in a sewing mag, at extortionate price, claiming to help heal paper cuts and pin pricks. It does seem to help minor cuts and grazes to heal, and is very good on nappy rash. Sometimes it contains a tiny amount of cetramide, but that would be on the.label.

Jojay · 09/12/2010 20:23

It probably just dosen't have perfumes etc. I'd use it!

GentleOtter · 09/12/2010 20:29

I swear by it and use it for everything but it is really good if you have badly chapped hands and put it on before you go to sleep.

We get it from the local farm supply shop and a big tub cost around £5 but it lasts for ages.

fibernachi · 10/12/2010 13:02

Thanks for all the replies.

I tried it out last night and despite being horribly perfumed it seems to be a bit or a miracle worker. My skin feels better than it has in ages!

Do you think it's OK on the DCs winter cheeks?

Gogopops · 10/12/2010 13:50

I've just read the reviews on Amazon and it's highly recommended for people undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy because it's suitable for sensitive skin.

Have a go on the rough cheeks.

I've just placed an order!! (I'm a sucker for anything recommended on MN) Wink

GentleOtter · 10/12/2010 21:57

It is good on your face in this really cold winter wind.
I use it for face, hands, body, feet, baby's bum when he was little, sore nipples when breast feeding, the horrid red bits that the children get when they lick round their lips in the cold, scrapes, the goose's foot, the goat's ear and udders. (the animals have their own tub) so it is good value for money. Grin

Ok, this is a super-old thread but I was recommended udder mint for my achey hands. I was having a bike fit and the guy said but I think he said to use it diluted.

Do you mix it with a base cream or straight? Bit random but any help appreciated.

CMOTDibbler · 28/09/2022 13:34

@Wombat27A you just use uddermint straight. If you use it on your hands be very careful about rubbing your eyes after

DreamingOfSoftWhiteSand · 28/09/2022 13:51

@fibernachi how much was it and where, please? I'm always on the lookout for good yet cheap moisturisers for my hands. Thank you!

Wombat27A · 28/09/2022 14:03

@CMOTDibbler Thanks! I didn't quite follow all the bloke said to me.

I'm not sure it's a moisturiser, it's more a liniment with strong mint added. I got it from ebay and it's called Udder Mint, made by Cai pan.
