Would you get your hair cut at Supercuts?

It would be very convenient (I go past one on my way home from work) and cheap, but worried they might be completely rubbish don't want them to make my hair look awful.

I don't want anything complicated, really just a trim of what I already have, which is medium-long bob with fringe and a bit of layering. They can't get that wrong, can they?

I did and it was crap. Sorry! But maybe I just got the one person who was utterly useless?!

ItsKurriiiistmas · 08/12/2010 11:54

I have had mine cut there on occasion, last time I got a really nice cut, but I've had a couple of turkeys as well, - it's very much luck of the draw who you get to cut it.

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 08/12/2010 11:58

I always use supercuts Xmas Blush (not that I have my hair cut very often - was last year last time I had a hair cut Xmas Grin).

Never had any problem......that "posh" one that I booked years ago though and paid an arm and a leg for........well I never went back.

color · 08/12/2010 11:59

It is pot luck.

mrspear · 08/12/2010 12:01

Er no; well not again anyway. It was a terrible cut. Much rather wait for a saturday appointment at a decent salon.

Sorry

Ephiny · 08/12/2010 12:02

Thanks everyone - I agree it's probably a matter of luck, and that's true wherever you go - I've also had a posh expensive haircut that was actually a bit rubbish (I asked for a layered bob, not a mullet Shock).

I'll try it if I can't get a convenient appointment at my usual place...

I always go there becasue if I didn;t my hair would never get cut at all. There is one within walking distance of school so I usually go either just after drop off and go into work slightly late or whilst waiting for dd to come out of ballet.

I work Tuesday-Saturday so it is convenient. I have had worse cuts at other places to be honest and it is quick. If I do get to a normal salon I tend to be in there fo rso long due to pointless chit chat/messing ABOUT THAT I just havn't go the time.

MayorNaze · 08/12/2010 12:11

yes i love it

they actually do what i tell them to do and not some poncey approximation of it. and i have v normal hairdo, not mohican etc Grin

plus it costs me not much

what's not to like?

Sounds like you don't have a super-complicated poncey haircut so, whilst I agree it's pot luck, I think you stand a decent chance of not coming out looking like you've lost a fight with a lawnmower.

What about making an appointment at a 'proper' salon, then going into supercuts a week before, then if it's OK, cancel the salon appointment. If it's shite, you only have to live with a week and it's a lesson learned. (for £15)

superv1xen · 08/12/2010 12:39

no. took ds in there once for a trim, and they butchered his hair, it looked a right state. and the hairdresser had a real attitude problem and was overly bossy with ds, like she didnt like cutting kids hair or something Hmm

and when we came out ds said, that lady didnt like me mummy did she? :( he is 4!

SantasMooningArse · 08/12/2010 12:52

it depends entirely on teh hairdresser in there, and if you search online you can usually get reviews either way.
the lcoal one I used once on a whim and it was bloody amazing- best cut I ever had; and when I searched online for their number again I found that yep- most supercuts ahve shite reviews but this one had great ones.

So yes I would use supercuts, with research and if it was the one near us.

the good one is in Cwmbbran btw; much better than the expensive boutique one I used before that in teh village. That was shite!

SixtyFootDoll · 08/12/2010 12:57

SMA - I take my DS's to the Cwmbran one and they always have done a good job.
I dont use it myself as I like my own hairdresser - who isnt much more expensive.
I took them once to another hairdresser in Cwmbran - when suercuts were busy. NEVER AGAIN.

SixtyFootDoll · 08/12/2010 12:57

SMA _ I have just realised who you are!!! Great name!!!

SantasMooningArse · 08/12/2010 13:22

Thank you sixty Grin

mippy · 08/12/2010 14:38

I went to Hair By Fairy which is the trendy version in London. Two good cuts (although many of the stylists don't speak English well so you have to explain firmly - taking a photo helps) one with embroidery scissors (the fold-up kind) that looked mulletty. After that, I decided that for me it was worth paying a bit more and going somewhere where the stylist knew what they were doing.

mrsgordonfreeman · 08/12/2010 14:46

I went with DH once, it was the only way I could persuade him to have a haircut. His was great, mine was appalling and I had to have it fixed by another salon. Of course I did not complain and did not get my money back.

I have a similar style to yours: I also thought it would be impossible to screw up.

carriedafirework · 08/12/2010 14:58

i would have thought they'd need to be terrible to mess a bob up.

saz007 · 08/12/2010 15:17

I went once and left in tears!! I only went as my friend didn't want to go alone, so I got my long, blunt cut hair trimmed - she hacked it to pieces. I didn't think it would be possible to screw it up...I mean, I could have done better myself!

ShesEverSoFamous · 08/12/2010 15:36

A friend of mine just went on Mat leave from Supercuts, I would say yes.
Supercuts is just like any salon, you have to be qualified to cut hair, you can't just apply for a job and then start chopping.
If someone in Supercuts gives you a bad hair cut someone in Toni & Guy can too, depends on the stylists skills.
