What will make my skin glow and look flawless.

I used to have nice skin, now I'm in my mid 30s its grey and dull. I was sat next to some young whipper snapper today with lovely skin and feel all depressed now. Is it just impossible to achieve this as I get older or do I need to work harder/use more stuff.

I currently use;

neutrogena exfoliating/cleansing pads (though must admit only a couple of times a week, rest of the time its soap and water).

Olay moisturiser

MAC foundation and some nice bronzing glow powder stuff that I can't remember the brand of - says Dandelion on the box but thats not the brand.

Any ideas what else I can do. Would a professional facial help, I've never had one. Or are home face masks as good. Don't do those either, should I start?

Do you get enough sleep, drink plenty of water and have you tried the Oil Cleansing Method? Cutting back on the booze and not smoking also helps.

Although out of all of those I only do the Oil Cleansing

I do get enough sleep, don't drink water, don't smoke or drink any alcohol.

The oil cleaning method seemed like a bit of a faff with slapping flannels on my face, etc. I probably did ought to go back to doing it, only did it twice!

The oil cleansing method really perks up tired skin - I don't use oil, but have a pot of Waitrose baby botton butter - smear that all over, then soak a flannel in really hot water, and lay on face (just like you long to with those hot towels in an indian). Slather on a load of moisturiser afterwards, makes you glow.

Get a new foudnation - if you are used to one it can get 'tired'. Get ye to Space NK - they really are lovely in there, spend ages trying oundations on you. I love By Terry, Chantecaiile, Laiura Mercier, they all do fantastic foundations. Well worth investing £40.

If you have purple under eye shadows my No. 1 top product is Touche Veloute concleaer from By Terry at Space NK - is £24, lasts fo about a year and is the ONLY thing I have ever tried which covers under eye shadows.

Tesco do 2 marvellous products - soft focus, which is a skin tone highlighty reflective cream which you put on under foundation. Makes you look luminous. Also luminous eye care - like a lipstick for under eyes. Is cooling and makes your eyes feel lighter, iyswim.

Also, wear blusher AND bronzer. Go and find a colour which suits (I am very pale, most bronzers make me look mad, have a very pale one from Clinique). Wear blusher on the apples and bronzer under cheekbones and on temples. Really makes you look youthful.

I have recently started using Aveda products, this cleanser and this serum. I think it has improved my skin a bit.

I also like to wear blusher and bronzer, Bobbi Brown does good non-orange bronzers.

There was an article in The Times this week testing various products to make skin glow. The Body Shop vitamin C stuff came top! And I think it was cheapest, tester said her skin was much improved after a couple of days.

I've started using L'Oreal micro-collagen vibrate cream/gadget on eyes and Clinique Laser Focus on face, plus more frequent applications of Clarins Beauty Flash Balm and it's perked me up a bit. Voila - all available in your average Boots.

I'm going to head to the city in the New Year to go to Space NK and browse the foundations. In the mean time I bought a new L'oreal foundation which seems good. Its called matte morphose. I've found a really good beauty blog that recommended it. beauty scribbler

I find that proper cleansing makes the most difference to my skin. The No7 hot cloth one is good and I find it very non drying too. Eve Lom also good but more £££!

Sorry GOML but invest £40 in a foundation? Is that what you really spend, ahem?

Back to the subject, I would recommend Eve Lom for deep-cleansing though there are similar products that are much cheaper, eg, Liz Earle stuff is nice. Problem with hot cloth cleansing, I'm fine for a week or so and then get bored and go back to doing nothing baby wipes, which are rubbish. Despite above comment, I feel the time has come now my years are advancing to invest in a top foundation - has anyone used Bobbi Brown? I like her stuff generally for is natural look.

Another not ££ foundation is a Bourjois matt one in a little tub with a lovely brush. Might not be best for dryer skins, but I use every bit which is unusual. Brush gives a fantastic finish. Here. Not many shades is the downside.
