'Vintage' make-up...or just old

Just seen an eBay seller selling Yardley lipstick (discontinued 1998) Stuf lippies (discontinued 2003) and Kolor eyeshadow (discontinued 2005). Given this, should I hang on to my 9-yr old half-used bottle of Benefit High Beam?

I used to love OutDoor Girl and Mary Quant in its early 80s revival. My grandad had a little chemists' shop and so I generally only bought what he stocked (OutDoor Girl, Revlon, not much Yardley as that was kind of old-ladyish in those days).
Mind you, I miss some of the perfumes of my youth - COty Sweet Earth, Electrique, Jontue and (all time favourite, totally unfindable now) Limara Golden Day body spray.
There was one called Tramp, as well, which I always took the piss out of, claiming it must smell like BO and unwashed socks.

dd2 (age 3) came to me a few weeks ago looking slightly pale and odd. She had covered her face with my no7 concealer stick. She had actually done a good job, in that it was applied surprisingly evenly over her whole face. Grin She has watched me apply foundation every day since she was born so I guess her technique comes from that!

She found my best neutral clinique lipstick, I had a very near miss and managed to rescue it!

SGB do you remember at Christmas one could buy gift sets of "Tramp" and "Tweed". I think there was talc and "perfume" if one could call it that! Grin

Do Limara body sprays exist at all now? I still have a slight fondness for Impulse I have to confess. (but they are slightly overpowering)

YourCallIsImportant · 07/12/2010 22:18

I remember getting Coty L'Aimant (?) talc and perfume at Christmas. It was in pink packaging IIRC.

I loved the Constance Carroll lipglosses, and the Boots big tubs of green hair gel.

StuffingGoldBrass · 07/12/2010 22:18

Oh yes, we used to sell bucketloads of them - perfume and talc, or talc and bubblebath if you wanted the cheapo set. And any amount of Yardley - French fern, lily of the valley, lavender - ooh and Devon Violets perfume.

I bet some of our grannies/great aunts have sets of those perfumes etc still in their lofts/spare rooms! Grin

Who uses talc now? Anyone?

Avon were still doing loads of different talcs not so long ago...not sure if they still do?

Mum got Tweed, Dad got Old Spice. I loved a bit of Heather Shimmer Rimmel Lipstick. What was the blusher that came in the little black and white cardboard tub - probably looked like Aunt Sally but I felt good...

Thank you HavingKittens Twilight Teaser - how I loved that lipstick, funnily enough was trying to think of the name the other day - must have worn it through the whole of the 80's!

And I remember going to our local cheap chemist called BJ's (just realised what a strange name) to buy Constance Carrol.....

Oh and who remembers those eyeshadows that M&S used to do - all the colours of the rainbow in a pencil case type tin - loved it!!!

My sister had one - an Eye Kit, I think it was called. I still had it in the 90s.

I also loved Miss Selfridge I-Shine.

I had the eye kit, lip kit and nail polish kit tins from M&S

VivaLeBeaver · 08/12/2010 20:19

I found an unused clinique foundation on my dressing table today. Haven't bought clinique since 2002. Not sure if it'll be ok still.

I used to wear exclamation perfume as a teen in the eighties.

onepieceoflollipop · 08/12/2010 20:28

Icraved one of those tins (when I was about 12 Grin)

dd1 is almost 7 and was overwhelmed by all the similar items available in Boots tonight (late night shopping)

Havingkittens · 08/12/2010 20:35

VivaLeBeaver, if it's not been opened it may be ok.
