Girl's grey school tights

We are having trouble with dc2's tights. She is 4 and even age 7-8 from sains are too short. She's pretty average height and build. We've had trouble with M and S tights shrinking too. Any recommendations for tights that stay up and don't shrink?

I share your pain! We're only about 6 weeks in to tight wearing this year, but our age 7- 8 Mothercare tights (they are the climate thingy ones that adjust to hot / cold) seem to holding their length quite nicely for my (very tall) 4.9 year old DD. Would be interested to hear of any other good makes, as this is a problem with have with all types of tights, not just the school ones.

John Lewis tights. Excellent. M&S tights are SHITE.

For non school tights, boden tights v good quality and last my dd a few years..... (snaffle them in the sale or with a 20% preview code)

OsbegaEthewulf · 07/12/2010 11:36

John Lewis everytime- excellent quality and wash wash too

OsbegaEthewulf · 07/12/2010 11:36

wash well you daft mare

Any more votes for the John Lewis ones? Should i buy 5-6 or 7-8 for my 4 year old?

I agree about the Boden tights, dc2 has some hand me downs from Boden and they are fab (in age 5-6 for 4 year old)

same here - get John Lewis - my 9 year old (regular sized!!) - was in 11 -12 last year. In fact they still fit comfotably now that she is 10.
No hope with M&S ones.

orangina · 07/12/2010 12:47

I would get the larger sized ones. They are never long enough in the leg I find.... if they are a bit wrinkly this year, then that's fine.....

SoupDragon · 07/12/2010 12:53

I put My slightly taller than average 4 yo in primark 5-6 which, oddly enough, seem fine.

LooL00 · 07/12/2010 13:00

I'll get the 7-8 then as they can always be kept for next year if we actually find they are too big. Will report back after washing.

DD is 6yrs and in Next size 7-8yrs! But they seem fine.

gibba8 · 07/12/2010 20:23

Another vote for primark here. £1 per pair and wash well. My DD is forever falling over and puts holes in her tights and trousers so £1 is enough to pay. Definetly get a larger size though.

HouseOfBambooootiful · 07/12/2010 21:19

Agree with John Lewis here too, and yes buy a size up (or more if your DD is v tall or has chunky legs).

Daydreaming · 07/12/2010 22:05

Another vote for the John Lewis ones - my DD is 4 and very tall for her age (and slim), but the JL size 5-6 are perfect for her.

MaudOHara · 07/12/2010 22:11

Next fit my v tall 6yo - although she goes through the knees regularly when she falls over

Lastyearsmodel · 08/12/2010 18:40

Agree M&S not great. Matalan pretty good, but size up.

MooM00 · 23/02/2011 11:12

Bumping to say that the John Lewis age 7 to 8 are fine on my 4yo DD, a little big.
