If I buy a 9carat white gold ring, will it eventually turn yellow?

I am currently helping DH choose my own Christmas present (he is too scared to pick something alone in case I hate it) and I like a ring that is made of 9 carat white gold. But will it turn yellow over time? Because if so I'd rather have something that started off as yellow gold or was more carats.

All white gold will lose the rhodium plating with time and then turn a slightly different, duller shade. If you want to have grey that stays grey, buy platinum.

I have two rings that were the same shade 8 yrs ago, one platinum, one white gold. The white gold looks now slightly different, the platinum is still the same. Platinum is noticeably heavier.

White gold is mixed with other metals to give its light colour, its then Rhodium plated.
It does wear of over time, but would only be noticeable when held against a new white gold item.
I've been wearing white gold rings (wedding and engagment) for over 4 years now and they're still white.

I have mine cleaned and re rhodiumed (if such a word) every 2-3 years.

It's no big deal hving white gold re-rhodium plated. Not expensive and doesn't take long. I've had a white gold ring and necklace for about 7 years and I've had them re-done once so far.

Mine seem to go a bit yellower every time I use cilit bang, so maybe remove them before doing some bad-ass cleaning.
