I know lots of people think this kind of thing is chavvy and overpriced, but I love posh friendship/charm bracelets and am getting one from DH for Xmas Xmas Smile

Here's the shortlist, would welcome any other recommendations of similar? He wants to stick to under £150.

Monica Vinader Fiji bracelet

Pandora white leather bracelet with these charms: 1 , 2 , 3 and 4

Kit Heath pebbles bracelet

Links sweetie bracelet

Any other recommendations? I'm aware lots think they're chavvy as I said - I am 30, pre-DCs, like simple, preppy fashion, any other recommendations would be great as I'm struggling to find others to compare to for under £150, pref nearer £100.

I think the Fiji bracelet is gorgeous - really cool and unusual.

The Kit Heath is OK.

Links Sweetie - dullsville.

I think Pandora are obscenely overpriced, although I like your choice of charms. Also I would worry that the white leather will discolour on your wrist and start to look grubby.

iTigress · 04/12/2010 01:33

Thanks MrsClaus Xmas Smile

The Fiji one is my fave at the moment, I do think it's the classiest.

I think the Kit Heath one might be a bit jangly, although less fashion-y iyswim.

Links - I know what you mean, it's so ripped off everywhere now... I've liked it for ages though, I have a cheapo rip-off and find the little hoops really pleasing

Pandora I'm umming and ahhing about. It's so expensive true, but I'd only ask for the bracelet and maybe one charm, then top up myself. I can see myself getting a bit addicted to it - but it is an investment that shouldn't lose much value if I go off it... true re the white leather discolouring, but it's my fave of the bracelets.

Might get the Fiji off DH, wait a few months then get the Pandora too. They'd look nice together I think

Tbh none wiLl be an investment.

hobbittoes · 04/12/2010 08:32

Dower & Hall

gregssausageroll · 04/12/2010 08:46

The fiji. Its gorgeous.

Biscuitbreaker · 04/12/2010 09:02

The fiji one! I love that.

I do think it would look nice with the pandora one alongside it, but be aware you can't have too many charms on the leather ones so the 3 or 4 you picked would be just right.

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 04/12/2010 09:04

I have a lovelinks which is a bit like the Pandora - only cheaper, so may be worth a look. I like the first one but the dangly bits would get on my nerves.

iTigress · 04/12/2010 13:59

Thank you ladies. I'm definitely swaying towards the Monica Vinader Fiji one, then will buy myself the Pandora one after an appropriate gap after Christmas Xmas Wink

The Dower and Hall ones are lovely too, but I'm not in love with any of them - would make lovely gifts though, poss my sister or SiL. I prefer more silver ones for myself, that would be appropriate with work/pubwear togs.

I've looked at other Pandora-type bracelets, but I bought a Thomas Sabo charm bracelet for my bezzie for her birthday, and someone else bought her a Pandora and she wears that all the time Xmas Sad I'm not sure if I went for something other than Pandora in that style I'd regret it.

OP posts:
WikiFreak · 04/12/2010 14:26

the thomas sabo one is horible maybe htats why?

iTigress · 04/12/2010 16:01

Thanks wikifreak Hmm it was the bracelet made of rose quartz chunks, which I know she likes. I'm being flippant - she does wear it, just obv prefers the Pandora.

Not sure what the point of your post was other than to be nasty, but hey ho, I guess that's one of the nice things about anonymity on the web, you can be nastier than in in RL Xmas Grin

Thanks for your assistance ladies.

The first one is gorgeous

Although I have a links sweetie and I love it ( in the knowledge that MN snobs would be sniffy about it)

Tigress - great riposte too Grin very diginified

fin42 · 04/12/2010 21:17

I like the fiji one.
Also have you looked at notonthehighstreet

Maryqueenofchocs · 05/12/2010 07:26

Links Sweetie is a timeless classic IMO and very lovely. Xmas Smile

KenDoddsDadsDogEatsTinsel · 05/12/2010 07:57

Have you seen the Georg Jensen one? Will try and find a link.

KenDoddsDadsDogEatsTinsel · 05/12/2010 07:59

Here

FellatioNelson · 05/12/2010 08:20

Like them all except the white leather one. Think the sweeite one is really pretty but a bit common now. The Fifi and the jangly one are both gorgeous.

moccachoccachino · 05/12/2010 23:40

I really like the Fiji too

Gravitygirl · 06/12/2010 16:32

Ive added the fiji to my birthday list, think Im pushing it asking for it for Christmas as I know Ive been spoilt already.

Vesta1 · 07/12/2010 00:32

if money is no object, i would go for Carolina Bucci. Alternatively, I like this
www.astleyclarke.com/Store/designer-is-AC+Biography/keyword-is-friendship (you can find 15% at sheerlux)
or this
www.benna.co.uk/designer-jewellery/32-assya.aspx?pageindex=-999

iTigress · 07/12/2010 19:03

Great suggestions, thanks all.

Georg Jensen one a bit plain, not a fan.

Carolina Bucci - mmmmmm yes but unfortunately money is an object! Also I prefer silver or white gold and she doesn't seem to do any? In Fenwick they had lovely long tangled chains with no join iyswim and tassled ends of really fine, delicate silver woven with silk really similar to Carolina Bucci ones, for around £100, not sure who the designer was but might have to go back for a peek. Can be worn either as necklace or bracelet, really pretty if anyone's near Fenwick in London.

The Benna website has lots of lovely bracelets and other accessories, thanks Vesta! Xmas Smile

Also if any fans of the sweetie bracelet are close to Bicester Village, the outlet placey near B'ham (I think?!) my DH rang me from there yesterday asking if I wanted one from the Links London outlet there - apparently they had previous season ones like the sweetie bracelet with shell chunks for a bargainous £78. Similar current season ones sell for nearer £150!

I said I'd rather have the Fiji

Does he not know how much effort you have all gone to already to find the perfect bracelet? Xmas Grin

vanitypear · 07/12/2010 19:57

I really like the Links sweetie - nice everyday bracelet. Not keen on the others meself - but that's me, dullsville (prefer "classic" actually Wink)

vanitypear · 07/12/2010 19:59

Some of those Carolina Bucci ones look like skanky student gap year stuff to me - shows how much I know eh.
