Winter is playing havoc with my hands.

I have used up every half empty tube I could find in the bathroom cabinet. I need some more, but what to try.

Cheap but very good and very very rich is Boots Botanics Overnight Hand Cream. Its so good I've used on my scaled summer heels!

Another vote for L'Occitane. I have a bottle of the Verbena hand cream always on the go on my desk at work.

But the best is Cetraben. You might have to ask for it at the pharmacy counter; it is often prescribed for eczema. I slather it on at night under cotton gloves.

Definitely Clarins

PercyPigPie · 30/11/2010 23:51

Be careful because some people are allergic to Aqueous cream.

I like Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter - nappy cream with lots of lovely oil/vanilla, but not much else. I also use good old vaseline as I am allergic to so many things. I find using the fine side of a nail file and 'sanding down' my hands Shock helps too!

seanbonfire · 30/11/2010 23:55

Don't really use handcream but if i notice them getting chapped I smooth on a very thin layer of 8 hr cream. Only when going to bed though as vv greasy- do NOT touch your hair!

pissedrightoff · 01/12/2010 00:00

Have just started using 'hand food' by soap and glory, amazing stuff.Cheap too.

MummyPenguin · 01/12/2010 10:08

I've used Boots Protect and Perfect hand cream a couple of times which you'd expect to be very good but I found it took the top layer off my nail varnish (I have acrylic nails) and made them go all sticky. Made me wonder, what's IN that stuff?!

Ktay · 01/12/2010 10:13

Another vote for Aveeno, although will be trying the fish oil tip

MayorNaze · 01/12/2010 10:14

another vote for body shop hemp :) and also makes you feel all bohemian and yurt-y :)

comeonpilgrim · 01/12/2010 10:19

My hands get really dry and i have found two creams that work pretty much straight away - soap and glory hand food (nice and cheap) or crabtree and evelyn hand therapy (less cheap). Both smell lovely too.

moragbellingham · 01/12/2010 10:28

mudandmayhem My DH was horrified to see me sanding my hands with a nail block! Can't see the point in putting hand cream on cheesegrater hands otherwise, and I only do it occasionally.

twoboots · 01/12/2010 11:56

does the fish oil capsule thing give you fishy smelling hands?

daimbardiva · 01/12/2010 13:39

Atrixo is the best I've used and not expensive

CeliaChristmasFate · 01/12/2010 13:43

Warm olive oil and rub into your hands with some granulated sugar to exfoliate them first. Then I use Diprobase eczema cream. Muslin gloves at night to help cream soak in.

PercyPigPie · 01/12/2010 13:59

twoboots I think you are meant to eat the fish oil, not bathe in it! Grin Hmm

moragbelliingham glad it's not just me then! Works, doesn't it?
