Very small shoe size

Suncottage · 28/11/2010 20:21

I take a size 2 or 2 1/2 size shoe and I am sick of wearing shoes that are too big, assistants selling me insoles, childrens' shoes etc etc.

It is not so bad with walking boots, trainers etc [no vat] Grin

But I really, really struggle with 'grown up' shoes.

I have contacted suppliers, manufacturers etc and trawled Amazon and Ebay.

Bespoke work out about £200 a pair. Not an option and there are a few shoes shops that do 'large and small' but you cannot try them on because they are mail order and I have the hassle of sending them back because they don't fit - I have a high arch.

Any ideas. Anything cheaper than the £200 I have been quoted? I am like most women - I want a variety of shoes to go with differnt outfits and not look like a 9 year old in T- Bar sandals!

My first 'proper' pair of shoes were made for me when I went to school because I was still in baby shoes at the age of five. I was so proud of them.

still pricey

scurryfunge · 28/11/2010 20:26

here?

Suncottage · 28/11/2010 20:48

Scurryfunge

Thanks for that link Smile

the Phoebe is very much me

I am very 'petite' so ankle straps make my legs even shorter and I want classic court shoes and ballet pumps, Chelsea boots etc.

I really struggle and have literally fallen over and fallen out of shoes because they do not fit. I also get cramp in my toes keeping shoes on.

I know there is a company called Long Tall Sally for women with large feet but all the small shoes I come across are 'sample' shoes and ex-display.

Even Clarkes are no longer stocking a size smaller than a four!

I have occasionally seen size 2 shoes in TK Maxx.

mugggletoeandwine · 28/11/2010 20:51

I just wear kids shoes but then I rarely go anywhere grown up and I am a 2-3 so sometimes have to go for shoes that fit in the three if I really want adults.

FromGirders · 28/11/2010 20:58

Barrats do small shoes, and recently I've found lots of nice, cheap shoes in New Look - their 915 range often has nice wee courts with 2" heels.
Duo go down to a 35 for boots :-)

TK Maxx used to be my 'stomping' ground for the smaller shoes but nowadays they stock things my Granny would reject.

I work in an office and need to look smart - I am tired of falling over/wearing insoles/stuffing the toes with cotton wool etc.

I want shoes that fit that a woman can wear - I love court shoes and heels but at the weekend I am happy to but up with my small boy's Timberlands with jeans.

A size three just falls off me. My nine year old god-daughter has bigger feet than me.

Any Mums on Mumsnet that are shoemakers?

Are you close to any of these places?www.boundarymill.co.uk/My aunty is a size three and had to look very professional for her job-she always got her shoes there-however I can't remember if the sizes go down as far as 2. The shops sell loads of lovely designer stuff-even if you don't get shoes you will get something!!Also better than Bicester Outlet Village or Cheshire Oaks as it is all in one big warehouse so you don't do loads of trailing into and out of shops. Avoid going with a buggy or small children though as it can be a bit cramped and busy.

Jellykat · 28/11/2010 21:20

Agree with FG, try Barratts, they do 'Tall and Small'..I should know, i'm the other extreme-
Massive feet!!..

Suncottage · 28/11/2010 21:25

I am about an hour and a half from Bicester village and have been there before - may check them out.

I have found out that mail order is no good - I need to try them on and then try and walk without falling over or out of them. I could go to the post office over and over again returning shoes that do not fit.

JellyKat

Intrigued - what size are you? May I be nosy?

I have size 2 feet and I buy from Camper, Yoox, Jones Bootmaker (can search for size 35), Spartoo, and there is also a store in London calked Due Passi specialising in small sizes (close to Selfridges). I am resigned to buying online and sending back for the most part although Camper have stores in London. Pretty Ballerinas sell online but are expensive - the children's sizes fit and are cheaper. Bloch ballet flats came up small as well - try a size 36. Zara does a few size 2s as well and I bought a size 36 boot from there online which laced up so is wearable.

Jones have a black Chelsea boot in a size 35 I have been eying up - worth a look?

Jellykat · 28/11/2010 21:40

You can be nosy indeed!..

I am a womens size 10/ mens size 9.
After years of being very embarrassed about my feet, i have accepted them..Smile
I am 5ft 11",so proportionally its o.k!

my feet (and hands) are very skinny tho'-so insoles and 2 pairs of socks are required! On my feet that is,..don't talk to me about gloves
that's another story.. Grin

Suncottage · 28/11/2010 21:47

Going to Google Jones for Chelsea boots - very, very excited Grin

There are some cute shoes here

I'm also a size 2, so watching this thread with interest.

tethersjinglebellend · 29/11/2010 11:34

the little shoe shop

noddyholder · 29/11/2010 11:37

Emma Hope does size 2 in most styles but they are expensive and so best to look in the sales

florenceuk · 29/11/2010 11:41

I found an Emma Hope size 2 was quite big (just trying on for size really...).

Duo shoes also worth trying as they do a narrow width size 2.

And these are a bargain and would probably fit if you are a "normal" size 35 blochs

Suncottage · 29/11/2010 12:03

The Little Shoe Shop has some wonderful stuff - but again it is the price - all the pair's I liked were over £150, bit I will keep an eye out for when their sales are on
