Pramsuit - will 6month old still fit in car seat wearing one?

Im thinking of getting my 22week old DD a lovely pramsuit from m&s rather than layering her up especially if just taking DS to preschool, but will she fit in infant car seat wearing it?!

I don't put anything thicker than a thick cardy on my babies for when in the carseat.

I read somewhere that wearing a coat or snowsuit prevents the straps from being pulled tight enough to stop baby being thrown forwards in an accident.

Clicked on this to find our what a pramsuit was?! I have visions but wonder if it is just an all in one coat thing.

I must admit I put DS2 into his car seat with his coat on but he is a bit older at 18 months. Can't remember what I did last winter when he was younger!

I agree with Geepers - am sure I read that too....must also be careful about overheating as no doubt you'll have the heating going in the car too?

geepers is right, you shouldn't have them in any kind of thickly padded outerwear in a car seat

in an accident it could compress and the straps become far too loose. best to have no coat/snowsuit on and just use the heating in the car or a blanket over them. or use a fleece for a bit of extra warmth

also, if you do have the heating on in the car and baby is also in a snowsuit you risk her overheating

cece - this is a pramsuit!

Good points about overheating and safety of straps, prob good for buggy but not car journeys.

I love the jojomaman bebe polartec fleece ones. They're not too padded but super cosy and double zips so v easy to get on and off.

(I put them on dds in carseats FWIW x)

Oh a snowsuit! How disappointing I was expecting some sort of little sailor suit affair!

Hannah7 · 29/11/2010 14:40

Lol cece! I use to call them snowsuits but everywhere that sells them seems to say pramsuit!
