I don't have a beauty regime at all at the moment - soap, water and whatever moisturiser (or hand cream [blush) is lying around).

My skin is pretty good but I got a shock recently when I noticed lines around my eyes and I'm going back towork soon and want to be a bit more polished. I have posted before and people have suggested olay regenerist and perfect and protect - but I am honestly baffled by all the eye creams, serums, moisturisers, day cream, night cream etc available! My skin is normal-oily, in pretty good nick (i thing apart from some lines appearing arund my eyes), but I have recently got lots of black heads on my nose which I can't seem to shift. I did try the oil cleansing method but I got a terrible breakout along my jaw/chin - haven't had spots like that since I was 15 - it was really painful, so not doing that again. I'm 31

I don't want to spend a huge amount of money, and I need

face wash
scrub
moisturiser
Serum (do I need one? an eye one or a normal one?)
Toner?
Primer?
SPF city block tupe thing?
What order do I put it all in? I am going to start making an effort and wearing tinted moisturiser every day and a bit of makeup.

I (occasionally) use body shop all in one face base (is that mineral?? I have no ideas)

I also have an olay tinted moisturiser but I've never used it.

All my makeup is old so I will get myself to some makeup counters as soon as I get some time but I want to get a cleansing routine in place first really.

Just posted on a similar thread so some of that might be relevant to you.

I am no beauty guru but I would suggest:

  1. SPF is top priority
  2. Don't bother with a scrub just remove your cleanser with a flannel - has the same effect.
  3. Don't spend a lot of money on any one thing unless you are sure it has the right things in for your skin.

If you are interested in finding out more about skincare products (and the cosmetic industry) then consider getting hold of this book which I am reading at the moment - can you tell? Grin

It is very revealing about certain products and I hope it will stop me making expensive mistakes. It has also made me realise why some products have been (at best) unhelpful for my skin, although I wouldn't say I agree with every word she writes.

I have had exactly the same shock as you recently - awful!

Good luck going back to work Smile

OP - was just about to post what pastadiva posted.

It is THE most thumbed book in shops in Oz. This has much to do with horrendous price of books here.

The short story is SPF, clean skin. All the rest about age-related/under eye-related creams is just shite. see what suits. The cheaper the better.

Ok thanks will have a look at that book.

So I want a proper spf, not just a moisturiser with 15 in, if I need moisturiser too, do I puit that under or over the spf?

Is clinique city block ok? Can anyone recommend anything else?

Thanks!
