White Stuff refunding P&P

Saw today that WS refund P&P for returned items that are sent back within 7 days of dispatch.
I think this is law under distance selling law that came out in August.

I wonder if Boden do this?

I also wonder if it applies with WS if you keep some of the order?

Do you mean the postage that you paid to have the item sent to you or the postage that YOU pay to return the item?

White Stuff always give a postage paid label for returns. As for Boden, I don't think I've ever paid for postage - there is usually an offer on for 15% off and free p and p.

Yes, distance selling legislation means that they have to refund the original postage which you paid for delivery. I know that WS and Next do this (and probably Boden as I find their customer service excellent).

However, I've had problems with Laura Ashley who refused to refund me the original postage despite letters to their Head Office pointing out that this was a legal requirement.
I couldn't be bothered to take it further to Trading Standards etc for the sake of about 3.95 butI wont buy from them again on principle.

I had a similar thing with Gap - they refused to refund me when I returned something to store and it took e-mails to their head office to sort it out.

Am a bit confused - does this mean if you

a) order something and pay, say £5 on top for postage

b) get it and decide you don't like it and send it back

They have to refund you the £5 they charged to deliver, plus whatever it cost you to post it back to them (assuming it was no free returns)?

Hi there, I have a little inside information If you keep part of the order, then the retailer does not have to refund the postage as you would have still had to pay postage for the items you kept. Say you ordered one item and paid postage, then returned the item White Stuff will refund you. Distance selling is 7 days for cancellation of a whole order. WhiteStuff provide free returns labels so if you chose to pay postage they wouldn't have an obligation to refund you.
The rest is down to company goodwill / policy and varies from company to company.
