Liz Earle skincare - what do I need?

DH is getting me some Liz Earle for Christmas, I'm hoping it will sort out my horrid pregnancy-induced spotty forehead. I know, attractive.

So, what do I need? I have seen a starter kit, but how long will that last me?

Will probably last you a month, but if you order a kit from QVC you can try it out and send it back for refund within a month if it doesn't sort your skin out.

You will definitely need the cleanse and polish and skin repair moisturiser. I have the tonic but don't use it twice a day (though it does smell lovely) The superskin concentrate (oil) is fab in this cold weather and is supposed to rebalance skin.

I've been using the range for over 5 years and have never looked back... (people comment on my glowing skin Blush)

Cleanse and polish is great as well as either of the treatment masks. For me the toner (or whatever she calls it) is useless and I prefer a different moisturiser.

The handcream is gorgeous and the scrub is pretty good too.

I'd say the cleanser and the light moisturiser. it really sorted my skin out through pregnancy, i think the less products you use the better, the toner is also very nice, get the spray to cool you down in labour?

If he wanted to be really nice the shampoo and conditioners are good, wasnt sure at first, but now my hair has got used to them i only need to wash it every third day. Body wash also nice, infact i've got most of the range now, but the items i mention i cant live without, would sell my children for them. [grin} Sun cream good too.

Thanks ladies :) We are off to John Lewis tomorrow so I'll chat to the consultant there too and see what she recommends.

MooMin - do you use the oil where you would use a serum? I currently use No.7 P&P serum and moisturisers.

miche - I have no plans to go into labour this time, elective all the way after the hideous experience with DS Grin

oooh, forgot about my favourite product. The body cream.

Good question about using a serum, i still use boots no7 or clinique serum under my moituriser, not sure if liz does a similar product, did read you could use the eye serum all over but thats a small tube and wouldnt last long.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/11/2010 15:59

Yes the only serum I can see is the eye one. I love my No.7 serum, it has really really helped with keeping the wrinkles at bay!

greggs - really? Hmm. I use a Dove one which is about 5 quid a bottle and lasts a month. It does a really really good job and I'm reluctant to start using something more expensive. Maybe I will get a sample...

I don't use a serum, just the eye repair cream in the day.

I use the oil 2/3 times a week at night after cleanse and polish. You don't need loads, I just give my face a good massage with it, let it soak in a bit then go to sleep! (is also v. good when skin is looking shite when hungover dehydrated)

I don't rate the exfoliator (not scrubby enough - prefer the No7 microdermabrasion one as recommended here), but the deep cleansing mask is good. Have samples of the shampoo and conditioner but haven't tried them yet.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/11/2010 17:11

That is good to know about the exfoliator. I use the Clinque one atm, not the 7 day scrub because that is lame and doesn't actually scrub, but the more heavy duty one. I think I will stick with that for now at least.

So do you use the same moisturiser morning and night? I notice there is no SPF which is something I'm a bit very anal about. Much to ponder.

I am thinking that perhaps I will get the cleanse and polish and the tonic and the mask and see how I get on with those to start with.

Yes I use the normal/combination one in winter and the light version in summer (I would try that one if you have a breakout as the normal one is still quite rich)

TBH I don't think SPF in moisturiser does anything as you would need to slap loads on to protect your skin no? Or wear a tailored facial sunblock like the Clinique ones.

I wear a mineral foundation so I figure that forms a physical barrier against the sun (and I have olive/brown skin so am not sun sensitive). The Liz Earle day eye repair cream I use does have SPF in it though.

Rohey · 26/11/2010 19:19

My Liz Earle musts are:

  1. Cleanse & Polish
  2. Instant skin boast - smells divine and I leave it in my fridge. fantastic when flying.
  3. Instant skin brightening.
  4. Superskin concentrate.
  5. New shampoo and conditioner...

Always come back to C&P...

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 26/11/2010 19:28

SPF moisturiser does work - my Dad is a dermatologist and has drummed into me that I must use it Grin
I am yet to find a separate facial sunblock that isn't greasy - I do keep looking!
