I need some new winter boots. i would like black leather, waterproof and comfy to walk miles in. Basically a winter equivalent to my birkenstocks (obviously not waterproof, i mean the walking long distances in comfort!)

my front runner is currently the fly london mol. Are they actually comfortable? can i try them on in a shop? i am a bit nervous about ordering them on line, not sure why as buy lots of other things online! any opinions welcome.

also considering ecco, camper and birkenstock ones...

TIA

I've got yeddo in brown and love them. Walk miles in them every day, they are waterproof. I tried a few pairs on in John Lewis in October, like you, I wanted to try on before parting with the cash.

I have the Mol boots. I don't think they are waterproof but I could be wrong. I think they are ever so comfy though.

lucysmum · 25/11/2010 22:09

they are no more or less waterproof than most other leather boot ie not like a welly but pretty good if you use a spray on them. They are not as waterproof as say Dubarry which are designed for riding etc. Very comfortable. I think you can try them on in John Lewis.

thank you!

i went to jl today but a. no mol boots b. no fly boots in my size. they don't have them jl online either. hence me thinking of buying online.

i will try to find another place to try on.

I have camper ones and have been wearing them for years. Waterproof and warm and the leather is buttery.

They do look a bit like wellies though.

I bought some Fly London Mol boots last year and they were bloody marvellous, right up to the point that the zip broke. I have to say Schuh were great and replaced them (with other Fly boots), but still, pretty crap that the zip broke after less than 7 months' occasional wear. But they looked and felt great.

They have fly London Yule knee high boots in Office. Really tempted to buy as have really good reviews on amazon and look very comfy but give u height!

I got Mols in the bargainous MN frenzy last year, and wore them almost constantly last winter, and have done so a lot already this year. I don't go splashing through puddles in them, but I would wear them out if it was raining a bit.
