I must tell you about my new hairdryer.......

Well the old BaByliss one finally gave up the ghost, must have been over 10 years old.
Went to Boots looking at the array of hairdyers and decided to be a bit tight and buy the BaByliss Elegance 2100 at £18.65.
The thing that most intrigued me on the box was the wording 'High Shine Iconic Conditioning' but didn't hold out too much hope.
My hair is cut in a bob style just below chin and only ever looked really good when the hairdresser had blow dried it. When I did it one side always stuck out and was more fly away and dryer looking than the other side which was marginally more manageable (I also use straighteners).
I cannot get over what a difference this hairdryer has made to my hair. It now lies really flat and looks almost as good as when my hairdresser sorts it out.
I'm thrilled to bits!
Apparently it is all down to an ion generator in the hairdryer producing a stream of negative ions to reduce static and smoothing the scales on the cuticle.
Reading through this style and beauty section I was starting to think about the brazilian hair treatment people have recommended, but seem to have struck lucky with this hairdryer!

Lovely, thanks bearcat, I 've been wanting a new one for ages.
Always assumed that the shine and non-flyaway effect was down to the actual hairdresser so am very happy now.

That's very interesting.

My hair is fine and flyaway so your new Babyliss one sounds perfect for me. I have a Toni & Guy hairdryer which is fine but is very heavy and doesn't have any magical conditioning powers. I've had it for a few years now so it wouldn't be outrageous to buy a new one would it?

This may be a daft question (Due to the fact that I chatted my way through chem/physics lessons) but does the ion producing wotsit have to be replaced periodically?

Bearcat, what's the nozzle attachment like on your hairdryer?

I too have a chin length bob and need a new hairdryer, this one sounds perfect. Mine has just started making a funny whirring noise and I swear there was smoke and a slight flame coming out the back of it this morning!!

Hi apple.
Sorry I didn't get back to you last night, but I seemed to have been blocked out of mumsnet, but apparently it was a glitch on the system.
The nozzle attachment is the usual rectangular thingy that detatches if you want and yet again tonight after the gym has dried my hair flat and straight along with the straightners.
Brill!
