Does anyone have any suggestions?

Find icy weather really daunting as always feel am going to go head over heels...and have done on many an occasion.

Am newly pregnant so really hoping to find some boots that will help me stay upright in all this snow and ice we're due to have soon!

Thanks!

I am just goingfor cheap wellies with these [[http://www.amazon.co.uk/Springyard-Steady-Anti-slip-Grips-Small/dp/B003G3WN94/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1290703429&sr=8-1

Hopefully it will work. Not sure how the kids will cope as they just have wellies and they don't do the grippers in their size. Will probably have to drag them in a sledge.

Mine are proper apres ski boots. Great for snow and ice.

JustDoMyLippyThenWeWillGo · 25/11/2010 16:51

I have really cosy, very grippy, North Face Abby ones. And they are grippy: have walked on ice at the ice rink and not fallen Grin

I think proper Timberland boots are good, chunky, grippy soles and waterproof too.
Thats what I am getting, when I can find some locally (I don't like buying boots on-line).

BornToFolk · 25/11/2010 19:31

I have chunky calves too and the Ecco boots are fine. I can even wear them over jeans.

latrucha · 26/11/2010 11:10

So, whose boots stood up to today?

My Clarks ones certainly didn't.

florenceuk · 26/11/2010 13:16

My kids had the Startright lined wellies last year and they are definitely grippy enough for ice - they ran around on an icy pond - in my KSBs I could barely stand up!

ItsRoxie · 26/11/2010 16:15

I got these snow boots from Mountain Warehouse although they're currently OOS. I would look for boots from an outdoors store rather than fashion stores, even the cheaper ones are waterproof and have good grip.

We have a long cold winter so have these pair of beauties...

My walking boots didn't stand up to the way home - which is uphill and was terrifying witha double buggy.

I'm not sure what to do now.

I had the same dilemma yesterday so googled 'snow shoes' and came up with these. Look like they've sold out in that size now. Arrived today. Was warm and toasty and dry through slushy pavements today.

latrucha · 26/11/2010 18:20

I've gone for the thing you can attach to your boots. I wonder...

GingerGlitterGoddess · 26/11/2010 18:34

I bought some fab purple boots from fat face last winter when pg and they saved me from many a slip in the ice and snow. They had fab grippy soles with a flower pattern in them IYSWIM. They don't do exactly the same ones now but these are lovely and come in dark red or dark brown.

MWestie · 28/11/2010 22:00

BornToFolk I went for the Ecco boots after all and they were the same Voyage ones you linked to. They're fab, just been out in ice today and seemed pretty grippy, and amazingly could not only zip up over chunky legs but fit over jeans too, result! So thanks for that recommendation.

Did also go to the huge outdoors discount shop near us to check out the velcro stud grips you attach to shoes, and not surprisingly were all sold out. Might have to order those online, does anyone have them yet, do they stay on okay? I live at the top of a very big hill...
