Falsh eyelashes

So...got a big fancy ball on Friday for DH's work - meeting all his colleagues for the first time.

Thinking about false eyelashes, but never done them before.

So...which type/make would you recommend?
And...do you put them on first then all your eyeliner and shadow and mascara on after?
And...do they need cutting to size?

Space NK will do them for you if you buy from them. You need to make an appointment to have them put on.

Eyelure individual ones are good. They are fiddly. It depends how good you are at fiddly things. If you can do cake decorating or embroidery or paint a room without screwing up your coving then that's a good sign.

Start with a few on the ends (a "sweep") and if that looks okay and they are all facing in the right direction then add more in a size down towards the middle of the eye.

You will need a pair of tweezers, a small sheet of tinfoil (to pour the glue onto) and a good magnifying mirror in good light.

Alternatively go to a salon and get "semi permenant" ones for around £60-£80. I've got these at the moment. I got them as I have a few social events coming up, starting last weekend. I will probably get them filled once or twice more before Xmas and then stop them in the New Year.

They are lovely, but not amazing and life changing enough to spend £30 a fortnight/3 weeks getting them done - plus the time commitment, for me, in my opinion. Its the same sort of outlay as having nail extensions really, going forward.

I'd definitely have them again for a special party/wedding or period where I want to look my best, like a special holiday or something.

I buy all different ones, which ever I cheapest, usually have to cut to size. I ahve also found this amazing tool that holds them for you, it is like a curved clamp, got it from Asda for about £3.

I would go for pre-glued with a spare glue strip and go for the style that you like the look of. I would clip a couple of mil off each end on the outer side. Definitely have a practice run. I always put them on after my make-up but before the mascara. I love them.

If you want to try the individual ones then I would get a friend to help.

I bought mine at Make-Up Forever for EUR 15 and paid another EUR 5 to have them glued on in the shop. I think there are other brands that have this service (MAC?). I highly recommend - they looked fabulous.

Thank you. Sounds like I'll need a dummy run! Hadn't realised you get individual lashes...thought they were on a strip! And makeup, then lashes, then mascara...got it.

There are lots of really fab ones on a strip, some very "party", others more natural.

I think if you want a natural look ideally you'd go for individual, but have nothing to lose trying a strip.

I have just bought an "application tool" on ebay as I like the "idea" of the party ones on a strip (there are some really amazing ones in Boots!) but I KNOW from experience I can't get them on properly or to stay on. I'm sure the tool is the answer!
