I wear cashmere/silk shawls in bright colours.

Bonsoir · 23/11/2010 18:48

Would prefer a fur coat, obviously Smile

PointlessNastiness · 23/11/2010 18:49

Last year I wore gloves. Easy to shove in tiny bag

shawly/pashmina things

traceybath · 23/11/2010 18:53

Have been contemplating this myself and it does depend how cold really.

Cashmere shawls alright from walking a very short distance but if hanging round waiting for taxis etc - well I need to wear a proper coat.

PointlessNastiness · 23/11/2010 19:20

Agree. And shoes with no toes. Brr

I have this eternal dilemma. When it's really bad I wear a wooly hat, gloves and everything. People snigger but I don't care.

For now, I wear opaque hold ups, (no 'barely there denier' going on here) and if a mart coat isn't appropriate then a floaty cardigan type thing or shrug. I can't wear pashminas as they make me look like an old woman without fail. I often wear a scarf (as in round neck type) and gloves too if possible. Depending on dress, I might stick a vest on underneath if I can get away with it. Is always good to be able to get away with skinnies and a nice top and at least only have the draught going one way. brrrrrrrrr

SofaQueen · 23/11/2010 19:26

Well, when in doubt, I consult Anna Dello Russo's 10 style rules, one being fashion should be uncomfortable. In all seriouness, a fur (faux or real) stole would be great - but if only for short distances. Ohterwise, a longer fur(ish) chubby style coat would work.

hobbgoblin · 23/11/2010 19:27

If I had the money I'd just invest in every type of smart coat possible and match with outfit as I do bag, jewwllery and shoes. A fake fur probably goes well with most stuff if you get the length right.

My usual coat and stick it in cloakroom of club

PointlessNastiness · 23/11/2010 19:30

traceybath · 23/11/2010 19:32

I tend to wear my duvet coat and just take off as I enter somewhere. I need a good evening coat but am yet to find one.

PointlessNastiness · 23/11/2010 19:34

Sales. Or tk maxx

Funny. My DP is not comfortable when I put on nay fake fur or animal print. He only admitted when pressed on the matter.

Can wear as much as I like now to as many clubs, pubs and other pulling venues as I like Wink

MmeLindt · 23/11/2010 19:49

If my long wool coat does not go over dress, then a silk or wool pashmina.

I bought one today at the UN in burnt orange.

traceybath · 23/11/2010 19:51

Can't do tk maxx - too daunting.

pointydog · 23/11/2010 19:57

I have a nice wool Hobbs one that I got in teh sales one year.

magso · 23/11/2010 20:22
