I really want pinky reddy hair - similar to Cheryl Coles. How?!

I've been googling and CC supposedly did hers at home with a L'oreal dye. I don't believe a word of it to be honest, and when I found the same dye in Boots, the colour (mahogany) looked nothing like hers.

I've been looking for ages now, since before she dyed hers that colour. I've seen a few people with it, but haven't got the courage up to ask them yet!

Any ideas?

cherry red. Did mine last night (only after googled colour and CC came up) and it has a purple tone ie. scuzzy student. :(

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 21/11/2010 10:22

black cherry sorry

MrsMeow · 21/11/2010 11:24

Aw do you not like it? It looks a lovely colour on the pack, just what I am after! I could only find mahogany when I googled to try and find her colour.

Thanks :)

(ps I am a student, so hopefully I can get away with it!!)

I wasn't really after her colour, but it is exactly right (as far as I can tell) - I don't like the pinky/pupleness , I wanted a red/black and DH picked it up for me Grin

MrsMeow · 22/11/2010 15:46

Thanks, will grab it when I next go to town!

If you're after a dark red, give this one a go. It looks quite bright on the pack, but when I used it, it was very dark. Almost black actually, with a dark red tint in the light. Didn't suit me but it was a lovely colour :)

Whoops, this one sorry.

Oh no don't do it - it looks dreadful. Sorry.

Chezza just about gets away with it because she is young, attractive and exceptionally well dressed. On anyone normal it is going to look like a cheap home job.

MrsMeow · 22/11/2010 16:17

nancydrewrocked my hair is already dyed red, so at least I'll only look a bit more dreadful than I do already Wink

Tinselina I love that colour :) I've used Red Passion for the last few years, which is just a bit darker than yours. I always get compliments too, and it makes my hair feel so soft! What is your natural colour?

TrillianAstra · 22/11/2010 16:20

I was considering dying my hair a nice unnatural colour for the winter but I am deliberately not now that Cheryl Cole has done it.

If you do a semi-permanent and your hair is dark, leave it on for longer than it says.

MrsMeow · 22/11/2010 16:26

Thanks Trillian. I already dye my hair (got a few greys!) but just fancied a change :) I've been looking for the same colour for months (before CC!)but haven't got the courage up to ask anyone that I've seen with it, what colour it was!

I look nothing like Cheryl Cole so hopefully people won't assume I'm trying to copy Grin

mrsm I think red is fine, lovely in fact.

There is just something about that shade of red/purple that looks cheap. And reminds me of the home dye job that every other girl at my school (me included!) had circa 1990.

celticlassie · 22/11/2010 16:41

Tinselina - is that permanent? I normally use semi permanent in case it goes horribly wrong.

MrsMeow · 22/11/2010 16:43

Haha, yeah I know what you mean - there's a few girls at my college with patchy purple dye jobs. And staining on the forehead in the case of one girl I saw today!

I'll give it a go, if it looks crap I can always go over it with my usual dye. My poor hair takes some stick Grin

TinselinaBumSquash · 22/11/2010 17:51

Natural colour? Um gosh i haven't seen it in a while Wink

Its very dark brown almost black...

I use perminent and i love how soft and lovely my hair looks.
The only problem is that becuase its so red it washes out very slightly in each bath/shower so can go a but dull but by that time i need to do my roots anyway so just do my whole head again.

I was so pissed off when Cheryl rocked up on X Factor with red hair becuase i just knew everyone was gonna start doing it, i have had my hair Blonde streaked in summer and red in winter for years!

MrsMeow · 22/11/2010 18:33

Haha, same here! Mine is v dark too, I find the Live XXL works brilliantly on it though, and to be honest, even though it washes out very quickly, it actually fades to a nice coppery colour so doesn't look crap until my roots start showing, and even then, they don't show that much.

I was pissed off when I saw her with her dyed hair too. Chuffed on the one hand as it's the exact colour I've been looking for for about a year, but naffed off because I knew it wouldn't be long before everyone had it. Sure enough, when I googled to try and find out, I saw loads of messages from hairdressers who's clients had been in to ask for the same colour!

Please don't do it - it looks so cheap! Bleaurgh!

FredAboutAFred · 22/11/2010 18:51

MrsMeow · 22/11/2010 18:55

1234ThumbScrew · 22/11/2010 18:58

I've done it recently (nothing to do with MsCole) and used HerbaShine 565 here.

FredAboutAFred · 22/11/2010 18:59

it jsut looks fake
dont do it

Rannaldini · 22/11/2010 19:15

seriously?
I think her hair looks shit and has made her far less attractive
please don't!

MiasmARGGG · 22/11/2010 19:21

I did mine mahogany on Saturday to dye over some hideous failure highlights.. I was blow drying it when Cheryl came on the bloody tele... Not impressed!

Anyway I thibk it looks great and I've already had lots of compliments about it so it can't look too shoddy.

Cheryl and I have similar hair colour and texture and complexion so the mahogany is probably worth a punt if you're dark. It's only a semi permanent on anyway.
