Lovely 4 year old...but chunky, help!

my dd is so gorgeous but what you might call chunky.
She is also quite tall for her age and is in size 10 shoes already.
Buying her clothes is so disheartening...all those skinny jeans and pretty t shirts.
Where can I buy reasonably priced stuff online that caters for the fuller figure pre-schooler?
Preferably fashionable too.

vertbaudet does slim fit so there regular stuff is more generous IYSWIM?

AlisonDubois · 20/11/2010 22:44

have tried thier stuff already but i have to order for 5-6 year old to fit round waist so end up too long in shoulder arm and legs.

I know the Next catalogue has the normal ages and then a fuller figured one for the same age-the name of which escapes me and I can't remeber what ages that was for, but worth a look.
My dd is the same- 1lb more and she'd have an overweight BMi.
I steer clear of skinny jeans, though jeans coloured leggings under tunic tops look nice.
I have got her jeans from George with lovely sstripey elastic waistbands for 2 years running.
The harem type jogging bottoms and shorts look lovely- I got mine from Asds again but I'm sure other places do them.
I got jeans with elastic bottoms and tops from Tesco.

I have even bought boy's tshirts in the past, but I think long sleeve tshirts are more generous anyway.
Just be aware what suits her and you can buy from anywhere I think.

She refuses to wear leggings or tights so trousers are only option.
Have tried george at asda...no luck i'm afraid.
ATM she is obsessed with dresses, but because she won't wear tights it's a bit of a problem.

I generally find Tesco clothes huge around the waist/hips.

runmeragged · 21/11/2010 13:50

I have a similar problem, my DD is 2, tall and well built.

Boden have a 2 pack of leggings which are really big on the waist - all the reviews say so and they are really good on my DD. I don't think there's a great choice of colours, but my DD wears these every single day, they cover her up properly. Boden is usually slim cut, these are the only bottoms I have from there and I bought them cos of the reviews.

Other than that, H&M stuff can be decent on the waist, but you need to check item by item.

My DS is extremely tall and skinny so I have both sides of this problem!

Bunbaker · 21/11/2010 13:55

I have the opposite problem as DD is tall and skinny. I find clothes at Asda and M & S are very generously cut. Also BHS do children's clothes in larger sizes.

PaulineMole · 21/11/2010 13:59

tesco, sainsbury, boden, m and s all generously cut

CarGirl · 21/11/2010 14:00

Bunbaker I have had to resort to buying gap slim fit jeans, not only are the cut slimmer but they also have adjustable elasticated waists still, they are fabbo especially if you are able to pick them up 2nd hand off ebay.

Bunbaker · 21/11/2010 14:03

CarGirl
I don't dare buy anything of ebay clotheswise because nine times out of ten they don't fit. I always have to get DD to try things on so we both go shopping for clothes together. You are right about Gap though, DD's best fitting trousers are a pair of Gap jeans.

CarGirl · 21/11/2010 14:04

dd2 has the same style ones in 3 consecutive sizes all of ebay. GAp slim fit jeans are the only things I buy off there clotheswise!

AlisonDubois · 21/11/2010 21:13

Some good ideas, thanks.
