CRAPPY Hair in humid weather HELP

Can anyone recommend any product - it doesn't matter how much it costs! that stops your hair going frizzy in damp humid weather. I'm so fed up styling my hair and leaving the house with it looking niceish for within a hour of being outside it looking lank, kinky and a complete mess. Everyone else I see seems to have lovely thick styled hair which doesn't seem to droop and mine looks like I haven't bothered - when I have. Please help me! it spoils my entire look (not that it's much cop anyway!). I know this sounds dramatic but it's spoiling my life Sad

Thanks, they only thing that worries me about this is what happens if the stylist is having a bad day and blow dries it wrong? can they put it right?

you can't do it wrong

they put on the stuff (unicorn tears or something), let it stew for 45 min or so, blowdry then straighten it

you don't wash it then for 4 days

then SHAZAAM

amazing hair

my hair is still wavy with body but not frizzy

love love love love it

MarmadukeMarmalade · 20/11/2010 09:32

thanks chibi it sounds really good just what I could do with - how much does it cost? willing to sell a body part if it's expensive - it need something that works desperately Grin

I'm a hairstylist and have heard of this it sounds great! Post a pic after Marm please Smile

I'll look in the retailers today as going to town and see if I can get some of that. Don't think I'd need to train for it though?

RoobyMurray · 20/11/2010 09:46

Definitely go for the Brazilian, it is LIFECHANGING I tells ya! It really has made a big difference to how I feel about my hair. It is really easy to style in the mornings and it still looks good after being out in all weathers.

It's just a really deep conditioning treatment so there's very little that can go wrong. I paid 80 quid at a local salon that had an offer on, but it would have cost more like 150 plus at a fancy salon.

beg, borrow or steal to get it done, you will not regret it! Smile

MarmadukeMarmalade · 20/11/2010 12:30

Thanks for the advice and taking the time to reply - I don't want to sound needy but if anyone knows of anything that I could buy maybe in Boots etc just to keep me going until I can sort something out about the Brazilian I would appreciate it Smile.

trixymalixy · 20/11/2010 19:51

Brazilian blow-dry definitely!!!!

Lulumaam · 20/11/2010 19:51

Avon lotus shield is very good in my experience and cheap so if it is not for you , then you have not lost out or i think you can get money back with avon>? anyhoo, it's about £5 and you apply it after every 3trd hairwash
that should put you on until the unicorn tear blowdry `!

Curiousmama · 21/11/2010 12:31

Lotus Shield is 3 for £5 at the moment. It's 3 for a fiver on all advance tecniques. I just bought a couple online for xmas pressies and I spent £20 and got free delivery with voucher code LS. Got tons of bargains Grin

I have hair exactly like you, so I know your pain.

I'm currently trying to find a good time to have the keratin treatment (Brazillian blowdry). I just need to find a 4 day space where I can hide myself from the world, because my lovely hairdresser tells me that during this stage it will be pretty lank and greasy, but annoyingly can't be washed, hidden under a hat or tied back (because it needs to set without kinks). She assures me that it will be well worth this initial annoyance, however.

In the meantime, I strongly recommend the Trevor Sorbie Beautifully Moisturised range which you can buy from Boots. I've been using the conditioner (leave it in for a couple of mins while in the shower) and then the super smoother before blow drying, or drying naturally. The smoother in particular is amazing.

It's honestly made a big difference. It must have, because my hair has not been getting me down so much recently!

chibi · 21/11/2010 18:25

i think you can use dry shampoo, it is only rice powder after all, fairly inert stuff

i did after day 3 it was too grim not to

am 1 week post washing now, all well so far

Kalypso · 21/11/2010 20:19

Chibi - really? That's very reassuring! I might get on with making that appointment then....

Oh, and Marmaduke - if I've been out in bad weather and my hair has got noticeably frizzy, I dampen it a little when I get home and spray on a little Frizz Ease Emergency Treatment spray. It's meant to be for use on damp hair after showering, swimming, work-outs, or simply exposure to humidity. That helps too, and it doesn't feel like I'm overloading my hair with product.

lovingthesun · 21/11/2010 22:50

I've just done the keratin blowdry, bought for £20 from ebay.

Very easy to use & very good result. Might have been better if I'd used a bit more of it, but SO much better than before. A halo of pubic hair was so ageing on me!

MarmadukeMarmalade · 22/11/2010 15:22

Thanks for all your replies - I will try the blowdry (maybe after christmas). I'm going to try some of the other products mean time. It helps to know it's not just happening to me Smile
