Dr Martens wedge boots with 'big' (muscly!) calves?

Any advice much appreciated!!

I have been given some money for my birthday, and really want to get some boots. I have enough (just!) to get these

I love the look of them, but
firstly, I don't have thin legs. My calves are big (cos I'm not exactly underweight!) and muscly (due to lots of cycling and running) so not very squashable/squeezable!! Are they likely to fit? HAs anyone got any?

secondly, will this length look awful on me because my legs aren't thin? am I better off going for some long ones?

thirdly, I don't get money to spend on clothes very often, and these are a lot of money compared to what I'd usually pay. Should I get some cheaper ones and buy something else with the change? I walk everywhere, so want some sturdy boots I can walk in.

Do they stop midway up your calves? I can't seem to find a photo anywhere of anyone wearing them!
From searching on here, I can see people seem to really love them if they have them, but am just unsure about the calves thing, as I'm going to have to get them online....

I do love DMs, though!

I tried these on when I was boot shopping. I don't have overly wide feet, or a tall arch, but they were really tight over the bridge of my foot. So much so I could only manage to get one of them on! Felt fine round my bulky calf :)

From what I've read, people do find the boot tight at first on their feet, but this loosens if you wear big socks!
So I'm actually reassured by that (that they were fine on your calf)

Yes, they were tight over the arch of my foot at first, but soon softened. They come maybe 3/4 of the way up my calf

I'd seen those too, and they look really nice! I could quite easily spend hundreds of pounds if I got all the boots I wanted. :)

But I wondered if this time I might go for something shorter, as I generally wear longer boots. And I quite like the idea of having a slight wedge.

But that's also why I'm slightly nervous. Dunnoi how the shorter boots will look on someone not blessed with long, slender legs!!

Those are GORGEOUS!! Rather tempted myself now!! Im cursed blessed with large calves too so will wait with baited breath to find out how they fit!!!

I think I'm going to take a deep breath and go for it.
Am now trying to decide between the black and the bark....
hmmmm.....
will probably go for the black, due to problem with not very slim legs, but think I'll prefer the bark when they're under trousers and stuff

Just in case anyone's interested, I ordered them and they were under £60 here

as long as you want bark or red. The black is still more expensive.
