Chemical hair straightening?

I have very thick, frizzy curly/wavy hair. I straighten it every two days. Curly just isn't practical, as it isn't quite corkscrew curl, it needs a lot of work, and would need to be washed every day.

So I am wondering about getting it chemically straightened. Has anyone done this, did it work well? Does it last?

My friend had his done and NEVER regretted it! Her hair was a very fine, frizzy mess and she would have to wash and straightened it to within an inch of it's life every day!

Now, I think she probably runs the straighteners over her if she's going out, but generally day to day, she washes and just leaves it!

I don't know how often she has it done though, sorry!

However a friend of it mine had it done and it was awful.
Straight hair didn't suit her and she looked old and drawn.
She hated it.

what about one of the keratin blow dry's which apparently reduce frizz/make hair straighter but still have body ?

Pre-children around 2003 I had it done. Very pricey but fab results that lasted 18months and had to grow out. It gave me poker straight hair with no frizz and lovely condition, it was japanese iron straightening that is also known as yuko. After having kids I could never afford it but did try a l'oreal straightening process which was around £100 in 2006 was not as good and I would spend the money on yuko if I could afford it but am tempted to try a brazillian blow dry as that is meant to be great for reducing frizz even though you don't end up with straight hair. louise x
