Hovering to see the suggestions - have this problem too.

exexpat · 11/11/2010 20:17

Do you need full-length ones? Some of the shorter styles that finish mid-calf can be rather more forgiving to those of us with, um, sturdy legs....

I've only had a problem with the shorter kind at a festival where the liquid mud was so deep it was pouring over the tops of my wellies - but luckily that doesn't happen very often.

apple99 · 11/11/2010 20:18

wellibobs?

phipps · 11/11/2010 20:19

I tried on boots that were mid-calf length and they did nothing for me so I am going with full length wellies.

I have the same problem. They are pricey but Hunter do adjustable side wellies that fit me fine.

faustina · 11/11/2010 22:53

muckboots are stretchy neoprene and lovely!

phipps · 12/11/2010 07:48

How much are they please Brubberduckies?

my sister tried huntress but even though they're meant to be wide calf they weren't enough for her and she isn't a shetland pony.

ceres are aigle narrow in foot? i really want comfy walking wellies but have high instep and cant get foot in some.

BikeRunSki · 12/11/2010 20:28

These are the widest I have come across.

RiojaLover75 · 12/11/2010 20:42

I bought Huntress last year, they're good but all I can fit are tights under them Blush and the ankles are a bit too wide.

My sister (similarly afflicted by wide calves) swears by Muckboots.

I wanted the traditional welly boot look though..... horses for courses.

choufleur · 12/11/2010 20:43

Buy mens boots.

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/11/2010 22:00

Joules are good for the hefty of calf. Or Evans do fat wellies, as well.

8rubberduckies · 12/11/2010 22:04

The Hunters I have got are here, the original adjustable ones for £65. I am a size 18 so as you can imagine have pretty hefty calves, and can easily fit them over leggings.

BikeRunSki · 12/11/2010 23:02

Wide Calf Wellies

MarionCole · 12/11/2010 23:08

Huntress are too narrow for me but I can fit in standard Town and Country ones. Nice and cheap too.

onadietcokebreak · 13/11/2010 00:13

Jileon or wellibobs. I have massive thighs

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 13/11/2010 03:39

I had the Jileon ones last winter. They failed to cope with dog walking and the allotment and got massive splits in. Replaced them with Muck boots which are brilliant and really comfy to walk in.

SDixie · 13/11/2010 12:16

I got the Hunter adjustable wellies online for around £55 - I have large calves too and they fit me fine!

phipps · 13/11/2010 17:31

Thank you for all the suggestions. I need to be able to get my jeans in them as we often get snowed in so leggings wouldn't be warm enough.

Montifer · 13/11/2010 20:57

I've got quite big calves and have plenty of room for my jeans to tuck into these.

At a tenner a pair you could have a rainbow of colours Grin

phipps · 13/11/2010 21:08

Oh my!
